French lingerie brand Etam pulled out all the stops at their Paris Fashion Week runaway show recruiting Grace Jones , Chaka Khan , Sister Sledge , Gloria Gaynor & The Pointer Sisters to model outfits and perform on the runaway! Grace Jones alone would have been enough to get me excited but when you add Chaka Khan who is another of my favorite divas, and some of disco's finest in the mix, [...]

WAIT, WHAT?! File this one under disco dreams come true. On Monday night, French fashion line Etam presented their Studio 54-inspired Spring/Summer 2012 lingerie collection at the Beaux-Arts de Paris for Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. In order to truly capture the essence of the glittering days of disco, the fashion house took it a step further by enlisting Grace Jones , Chaka Khan , Gloria Gaynor , Sister Sledge and The Pointer Sisters to come and belt out their classic tunes amidst multi-colored [...]

2012 Disco Inferno! Yesterday Sister Sledge, Chaka Khan, Grace Jones, Gloria Gaynor and the Pointer Sisters all took to the stage at the Etam Fashion Show In Paris. Dressed up for the occasion in glittering outfits, they gave onlookers a trip down memory lane as they performed their Disco hits from the Seventies. The disco-medley was the perfect accompaniment to the 70s-influenced collection of metallic plunge body-suits and dance floor neons. Take a look of their performance below. http://electrowow-music.blogsp ot.com

Hello...how are you? Well, it's been quite a long time. Perhaps there are two or three of you out there who still may read this. It's been a landmark year for me in terms of the gigs I managed to see. Mainly because I kept leaving Winnipeg. In February, I got to see Gang of Four in Toronto, and they were one of the most exciting bands I've ever seen. Unlike The Buzzcocks, who I saw last year, GoF are still clearly passionate and earnest about what they do. Andy Gill was a badass, and Jon King was a maniac. [...]

Unknown - Luv. Three A / Love Unlimited Vibes (LUV 003) by matthias meyer LUV 03 B by LOVE UNLIMITED VIBES The vinyl is back, once again gaining more and more attention as a media format during 2011. For two reasons. First, since everybody and their mom are able to "Dj" today thanks to the modern solutions like Ableton , Traktor and Serato. We love the technology and how it takes [...]

Grace Jones has joined Twitter! Become a slave to the rhythm and follow @Miss_GraceJones . Our daily mix is about to get sassy, if she in fact will be tweeting on her account. So far, it doesn't look so personal. Let's just hope for it! In other news, two of her early (and absolutely necessary!) albums Fame and Muse will be remastered/reissued soon, learn more here . I leave you with one of my favorite Grace Jones videos + songs, Love On Top Of Love.

It appears that on November 30th Grace Jones fans will be finally treated to remastered versions of Fame and Muse , two albums produced by Tom Moulton as part of the disco trilogy (also including Portfolio) released in the late 70's that kick started her career. I remember these both albums being a real pain to track down when I first started really getting into Grace, and I'm excited to finally lay my hands on decent quality remastered versions (alas with no bonus [...]

"I can give birth to sheep"/ "I can be cool": evidently 19 years spent on a self-imposed hiatus did little to diminish Grace Jones ' impenetrable tower of confidence. In her first body of work since Bulletproof Heart (released back in 1989) and eager to prove she was as intriguing as ever, her 10th studio album Hurricane was unleashed. It's almost like Jones gazed into her zeitgest crystal ball and foresaw Rihanna's androgynous R-rated phase and the arrival of the global pop/fashionista phemenomem we now know as Lady Gaga. Thus somewhat rightfully felt [...]

Hurricane is the 10th studio album from singer/model/actress Grace Jones and her first record since 19892s Bulletproof Heart . Emerging from a two-decade hiatus, the 63-year-old icon shows little sign of rust or wear; her husky voice and ear for dance rhythms are as sharp as they were at the height of her post-disco success. If anything, her celebrated edginess has sharpened with time. The album's most unexpected aspect is the menacing touch that pervades several of the album's darker tracks. Already deep enough, Jones' voice [...]

Ladies and gentlemen, Miss Grace Jones . At long last, the iconic model, actress and singer releases her tenth studio album stateside this week: Hurricane - Dub , a 2-disc collection that includes the original album released in November 2008 and a brand new 'dub' disc, featuring slick new dub versions of each track on the original tracklisting. From the damning bite of "Corporate Cannibal," to the classic swaggering Island rhythms of "Well, Well, Well," to introspective numbers including "I'm Crying (Mother's Tears)" and "Williams Blood," Hurricane is a masterclass return to [...]
The iconic diva's 2008 comeback, now with added dub versions. How long has Grace Jones been away from the music industry? Well, the single from her last album was produced by C&C Music Factory. Yes, it has been a long time, but then again, Ms. Jones has always done things on her own time. Hurricane was released in Europe in 2008. It has finally been picked up for North American release. As an added incentive, a disc of dub versions of each of the album's...

I'm pretty sure that you've all got your hands on Grace Jones 's 2009 album Hurricane by now, but for the record the album has just been released today in the U.S. with a bonus dub disc. We posted the Well, Well, Well dub a few weeks ago, and now you can stream the full set over at AOL or buy it here . Now come on Grace hurry back to the U.S for some live shows or even just the [...]

All this talk of Hurricane Irene that is heading for the East Coast this weekend, gives us a fabulous excuse to revisit one of my favorite tracks by the legendary Grace Jones , the epic Hurricane ! While searching the internet for something new to share with you, I turned up this rather nice remix by Paul Heron and Alan X that surfaced a few months ago. To wrap up this Hurricane love letter, I'll leave you with this video [...]
