THROWBACK TUESDAYS (WEEK 5) M83 's anthemic and uplifting "Graveyard Girl" off of their 2008 release Saturdays = Youth holds a special place in my heart. The 80s synth-pop inspired track is one of the catchiest tunes on the album. Filled with breath-taking synth pads, which create an airy atmosphere, listeners feel a sense of nostalgia of their younger days. The song definitely holds true to the album title. The talk-break at 2:07 is unique and a perfect transition into the bridge. Images of sunlight breaking through [...]

Tweet Listen to M83 's new album "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" below. One of the most anticipated albums of the year, if not the decade (I know, we're only in the second year of the decade, but still), is being released next week on October 18th. Previous cuts from the album "Intro" and "Midnight City" ,have given us glorious glimpses into how the 22-track-monster might sound M832s "Hurry [...]

This song was my lullaby at night since junior year in college. M83 has and always will be the band I can rely on to make really good music and release albums that timeless. Hearing this song play on random in my iTunes brought me to a dreamy state I've been essentially craving for a long time. Feels like someone just grabbed me from the monotonous evening and transported me into one of John Hughes' films, like Some Kind of Wonderful. So, I'm sharing this great piece of music to you guys. I've found [...]

Have you heard these new Doves tracks? Don't know much about them, but while perusing some music blogs I came upon this post from Sell The Lie about the new songs Winter Hill and House Of Mirrors . The album Kingdom of Rust is out on tuesday. Phoenix has a new song out there called Lisztomania delivers what we're used to from this French group. Catchy melodies wrapped in syncopation. Love it. Try the hype for [...]

NEW M83 EP Coinciding with the release of the newest single from M83 's seminal Saturdays = Youth "We Own the Sky" Anthony Gonzalez is releasing an EP with an exclusive remix of "Graveyard Girl" and an excellent new track entitled "Je Vous Hais Petites Filles". Definitely some awesome, retro M83 action, check the mp3s out below! M83 - "Je Vous Hais Petites Filles" M83 - "Graveyard Girl (Parkerlab's Dusted Remix)" [...]

M83's Anthony Gonzalez talks about how being a teenager and 80's movies influence his music on the record Saturdays=Youth . "Graveyard Girl:" "You Appearing:" "Couleurs:" "We Own The Sky:"

After learning that M83 is scheduled to open for The Killers during their Calgary stop, I felt it necessary to acquaint myself with the French dream-pop band's latest album Saturdays = Youth . The song that really stood out for me on the album was the second single Graveyard Girl , released on April 8, 2008. The song is a fine example of the style M83 employs, and conjures up images of a Brat Pack scene with two young lovers flirtatiously exploring a county fair together........or something along those lines. I suppose it doesn't have to [...]

My dad, Eric, is quite the fan of post-rock, electronica type of music and I was dazzled upon his introduction of M83 to me. M83's music is in my opinion, very airy, synthy and abstract in nature. Very post-rock, very spacey electronica, but not so pretentious. It takes a while to really clue in on what M83's intent in "Saturdays = Youth" is, but the band's album is a pretty good fusion of synthpop and electronica. [...]
[Photo by Stylesightings ] I feel like if you are an entry-level alt girl looking to build a personal brand that is 'interesting', 'free spirited', 'alt', 'sexie', and 'the kind of girl who talks about "kissing boys" in an "I will be young & prettie 4evr"-kind of way ' on her myspace profile, you could easily take any article of clothing or accessory from these three girls to wear at an alternative event. They could actually open up a fashion consulting business for celebrities who need a 'conservative alt' look from 2009-2011. I also [...]

Kara!
Here are some good songs that are revolving on my i-pod/itunes these days, and that I'd recomend you check out for a good Friday afternoon/evening. Also, not all of the ones featured will be mp3's because most of the time I only include mp3's over lesser known bands rather than the famous ones that everyone's already downloaded or bought teh album of. It makes since that way, anyways, because those bands and artists are the ones with the big name record producers. Anyways, these mp3's in this post, like all the others, will be up for a week. The rest [...]

via St. Murse I've been listening to M83 's "Graveyard Girl" from the recently released album Saturdays=Youth (and some Chairlift stuff) on repeat for a few days now. Love the retro Sonic Youth and New Order (I agree, David) feel of this song. Graveyard Girl - M83
