You might have noticed that I've taken a few weeks off from the New Release Spotlight feature. December's honestly a very slow month for releases. Year-end lists are already done, award nominations are announced, and with the decline of physical media sales, the holiday gifting of MP3s just isn't the same (though I recommend the gift of vinyl records to your music-loving friends and family). Rather than force lists of whatever I could scrape together each week, I'm doing a cumulative one for the whole month in two parts. At this point, everything of note has been released until January (at which point [...]

New visuals out for the latest single from Green Day's latest album ¡TRE! . And with the video for "X-Kid" comes kind of a post modern warning of how quickly time passes and trends change into unrecognizable situations. That if you don't stop to smell the roses every once in while there will soon only be decaying after-matter rotting in a pile of dismay for you to get an unholy whiff of. No, I'm just kidding. The whole thing is just a video of a fucking tape cassette playing the song with "X-Kid" [...]

Green Day’ s third album of 2012, ¡Tré! , is streaming in full below (via iHeartRadio ). Since the beginning of this trilogy, the band has insisted the ending would be "epic" with a mood that's "reflective," reminiscent to the stuff off 20042s American Idiot or 20092s 21st Century Breakdown . So, see if you're swept away by the 12 tracks below. Following ¡Uno! and ¡Dos! , ¡Tré! hits stores December 11th via Reprise (pre-order here ). In related news, the [...]

Green Day just premiered their new video for "Stray Heart" over at NME off of their forthcoming ¡Dos! album which is less than a week away from release. And while anticipation may be high for the second in this trilogy of albums, it appears that Green Day is still keeping a playful attitude towards their music. Because with the new video comes an interesting concept of a man's cheating heart that keeps getting him in trouble. I say no reason to keep it in your pants chest if it keeps [...]

When I think of Green Day I immediately think of Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 . Wait, no I don't, and you probably don't either. But yet here it is, the first official song off of the upcoming Teeny Vampire movie soundtrack just a few weeks before the album and movie's release. "The Forgotten" takes on a slower more ballad-type style that you don't particularly hear too often from the long-time punk rockers, but I guess it works. I'm not gonna lie, previous soundtracks to the Twilight movies have featured some [...]

New Green Day music continues to surface via the most unlikely of sources. We've already heard new tracks courtesy of Angry Birds and Playboy Magazine , and now the soundtrack to Need For Speed - Most Wanted '12 brings us "Stop When The Red Lights Flash", off the forthcoming ¡Dos! . Listen to it below (via Green Day Authority ). Following last month’s ¡Uno! , ¡Dos! will be released on November 13th via Reprise. [...]

Green Day continue their prolific pace of new music, today releasing the second track from their second studio album of 2012. Following the bare bones rawness of "Lazy Bones" , "Stray Heart" also packs a nostalgic punch, courtesy of a rockabilly sound more typically associated with their Foxboro Hot Tubs side-project. The track premiered today on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio program, and you can listen to the replay below. Following last month's ¡Uno! , ¡Dos! will be released [...]

¡Uno! is officially one day old (and the public reaction hasn't been too kind ), so it's time to shift out focus to part two of the trilogy. As Green Day Authority points out , the ¡Dos! song "Lazy Bones" premiered today on the Green Day edition of Angry Birds . Perhaps it's just the recording quality since it's stripped off an online game, but this one's far more laid back and bare bones than anything they've issued as of late. Stream it here .

New visuals and song from Green Day and also a pretty new sound to go along with it. My guess would be that if you are releasing a trio of albums in a 4 month period there is going to be a lot of experimentation going down. Taking on more of a alt-pop sound than the normal punk pop we've been hearing over the last few years, "Kill The DJ" is sure to get people talking. Maybe not for all of the right reasons, but with only a couple of weeks to go before the [...]

As promised , Green Day took the stage for an unannounced performance at this weekend's Reading Festival in Reading, UK. Though rumors of a full Dookie performance proved false, the band did rip through a 16-song set that weighed heavy in greatest hits, and also included the debut of another cut from their forthcoming album ¡Uno! , entitled "Stay the Night". Check out pro-shot footage of the new song below. "Stay the Night" marks our fifth taste of ¡Uno! following "Oh Love" , “Let Yourself Go” [...]

Green Day has let loose the fourth track from their new album ¡Uno! , and it comes courtesy of the procrastination tool/game Angry Birds . You can play the game on Facebook , and stream a clip of "Troublemaker" at Green Day Authority . The game's trailer is posted below. [...]

On the same day they teased the video for "Oh Love" , Green Day also unleashed audio of "Kill The DJ", the second single from the forthcoming LP ¡Uno!. This number's strictly for basement dancefloors everywhere, sparking up memories of late nights with The Rapture or early mornings with FM cuts off Combat Rock . You can stream it now at 107.7 The End . ¡Uno! , ¡Dos! , and ¡Tré! will be released by Reprise Records on September 25th, November 13th, and January 15th, respectively. [...]

Alt Press just released one hell of a Monday treat on all of us by dropping this new single and live Green Day video for "Let Yourself Go" earlier today. 2012 has been somewhat of a comeback year for many bands of the 90's, and without naming too many names the comebacks have been somewhat lackluster with a diluted remembrance of yesteryear faintly ringing in your ears.
