Claire Boucher , aka Grimes , has begun a new collaborative project with Tim Lafontaine (Cop Car Bonfire) named Membrain. The project will release an EP Sit Back, Rewind later this year. Boucher has stated via twitter that the project is "really a live thing.. and, membrain is like 90 % Tim i.e. cop car bonfire -- i just do vocals for him but he's the genius...Membrain is also basically a live improv drone techno act - so its really hard 2 get it from recordings" . Surprised I hadn't posted any Grimes yet - what's wrong with me? Grimes is Canada's Claire Boucher and she makes some beatiful world-scene sounding electro-piano-pop - that's the only way to describe it. The vocals are ethereal, the lyrics I can't comprehend and her hooks are catchy as hell. Pay attention to this girl. Montreal’s ethereal pop icon Grimes first shared ‘Oblivion’ back in October but has today unveiled the accompanying visuals.
