London duo Still Corners have released their sophomore album today, named Strange Pleasures and it's highly recommend you get it on your playlist rotation. For me this album is a fresh breath of dream pop air drawing some similarities to a Beach House sound, with elements of Youth Lagoon and our featured track striking a Grimes chord. All these similarities put aside as this is their sound and this LP is full of some cracking tracks. I've already had 'Beatcity' on repeat along with, 'Fireflies'. Cut a listen here [...]
The votes are in! Mumford & Sons, along with a newly-reunited Postal Service, will headline the 12th annual Sasquatch! Festival in George, Washington May 24-27. The lineup is yet again a full palate of musical goodies for fans to revel in, from tumblr upstart and techno princess Grimes to the inimitable Cake. No virtual performances à la Coachella though-don't expect another Tupac resurrection this year. Here are some things to look out for during the fest-other than potential Squatch sightings: 1. Azealia Banks' Twitter account: After throwing repetitive, slightly catchy combo punches at [...]

GRAPHIC BY TERRA SCHNEIDER Well hey there, folks! I can't believe it's already February BUT I'm excited because that means I get to share a new mixtape with you all! This month's has a much different feel than the last couple mixes I've made. In light of the passion associated with Valentine's Day (and in a move to keep myself musically entertained), I wanted to make this mix really groovy, with lots of rhythms and not so many lyrics. Get ready to hear some trip-hop, glitch-hop, and chillwave - I've sort of been into "space [...]

San Francisco's Treasure Island Music Festival is a bit under-appreciated by outsiders, but that makes for an ideal situation, as there's room to breathe and far fewer people in attendance than its surrounding competition (i.e. Outside Lands, Hardly Strictly). The festival's close proximity to the city's trademark bay only adds to the experience, as well. The transition from day to night is unforgettable; the autumn-tinged sunset that hugged the surrounding skyline on Sunday evening was something ripped out of National Geographic . While most of the bands on this year's lineup are currently or have been touring for the [...]
The best music festival in NorCal (yes, we just said that) is right around the corner, and we're ready to stoke you!

Fresh Espresso ::: photo by Josh Lovseth Plebian Paradise, it's so good to see you again. It's been about a year but every July you come to Seattle, sashshaying your way into the conscious of local residents who then proceed to complain to me about how awesome it used to be before I moved here who [...]
At ginormous festivals like Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, it's pretty tough to craft a narrative - when there's something like 200 bands playing over a weekend, it's next to impossible to really sew a singular thread through the weekend's performances. Pitchfork Music Festival is much smaller - 45 bands in three days - so, it's a lot easier to derive the daily theme. And while Saturday brought forth another occurrence of Friday's soaking, poncho-industry-fueling rainstorms, Saturday's lineup also featured a few tack-worthy talking points, with Grimes going head to head with Godspeed! You Black Emperor, Flying Lotus and Sleigh Bells catering [...]

I don't know about you, but it has been one heck of a long workweek for me, so I decided to build a work playlist that has helped me (and will hopefully help you) take the edge off just in time for the weekend. Whether you work the graveyard shift, early mornings or somewhere in between, you're here because you love music. Students and the unemployed are welcome here too. The Friday Five is for anyone who has been shouldering weight this week. It's time to shake it off. I led off with "Cannons" because Youth Lagoon is a [...]
Not just another Tuesday… the lineup for the 2012 Treasure Island Music Festival is out of the bag!

Treasure Island Music Festival will return to San Francisco's Treasure Island from October 13-14th. As has been the case throughout the festival’s six-year history, the bill is split between indie rock (The xx, M83, and Divine Fits) and electronic (Girl Talk and The Presets), though hip-hop also has a presence this year in the form of Public Enemy. The festival’s first day leans toward the electronic side. Joining Girl Talk, Public Enemy, and The Presets are SBTRKT, araabMUZIK, Grimes, Toro y Moi, Porter Robinson, Matthew Dear, Tycho, and Dirty Ghosts. The indie-centric second day promises [...]

Stargazer Mix This week's HDPP features songs that I'd classify somewhere between melodic shoegaze and otherworldly pop - music perfect for observing the interplanetary events like the Venus transit. This mix has been on repeat since its conception, and it keeps getting better with each listen. Hopefully you enjoy it as much as I have. Hear it by simply clicking here . Playlist is below. :: Hump Day Power Play (5-30-2012) :: 01 :: "Alphabet Song" - Lower Dens [...]

21 songs of Le Miel du Mois, what the f%*k is a Monday blues? Steph is back with another installment of LMDM and it's another wonderfully eclectic blend of everything you didn't even know you loved. Stephs all-embracing approach to music is one of the reasons why LMDM has been and continue to be one of the most interesting mix tapes on any side of the globe. I don't know about you but I get bored quick fast listening to the same music or style over and over. Musical monogamy is not a concept I can get behind. [...]

Hula Dream Edition I've really been obsessed with two albums this last week: Vacationer 's new debut Gone , and St. Lucia 's self-titled debut EP . In an attempt to create a playlist that channeled this dreamy/beachy vibe found on these two amazing releases, I ended up with this week's Hump Day Power Play . It's one of my favorite mixes to date. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Hear it by simply clicking here . Playlist [...]
