Mountain Dwelling Recluse... As announced at the end of March ( recap ), a new micro-label is set to officially launch on record store day under the title Mountain Dwelling Recluse Records, or MDR for short. The Irish independent label will release limited run records from Daniel Martin Moore , Relatives and Knuckles to name but a few of the talented types to have already teamed up with team [...]
Unbeknownst to most, Jim James snuck down to 8th Avenue South on Friday night for a secret show at The Basement . We were lucky enough to be invited to one of the best shows that this guy has seen in a long, long, long (maybe ever) time. After filling up about a quarter of the already cozy venue with soundboards and guitars, 50 lucky fan club members got +1 admission to see Jim James & some of My Morning Jacket try out some new songs from his impressive new solo LP, [...]
It's Super Bowl weekend, and that means that you have every excuse to sit your ass on the couch on Sunday to overeat food that makes you gassy and watch the Niners whoop that ass. You'll also a short set of some pretty heavy duty music for your halftime entertainment, and let's hope it turns out better for Beyonce than it did for Madonna when MIA flicked off America last year . Do you know what else your sloth-like Sunday means? It means you have no excuse not to get out this weekend to see [...]
Drugganaut , a mysterious fellow who started his life in the U.S. but now resides somewhere in the U.K. He keeps his identity hidden but shared the origins of his moniker coming from a song called Druggernaut Jugfuck by Agoraphobic Nosebleed . Currently putting all efforts behind his production, seeing releases on LW Recordings , Z Audio , Dubstar , and LU10 Records . Drugga's sound can be best described as aggressive, manic, and riddled with testosterone. Inspired by Doomtrooper and just about any sound that captivates his twisted mind, Drugganaut takes that [...]
Nashville's The Delta Saints have been hard at work. They first hit our radar with their 2009 EP Pray On and their 2010 EP Bird Called Angola , and they somehow slowed down from their incessant touring to get a kickstarter funded full-length together. Death Letter Jubilee releases today, and they are celebrating with us Nashvillians with a free in-store over at Grimey's tonight. That gets started around 6pm, and you can have a listen to the rocking roots fueled title track in their hot off the [...]
We've already told you about that EP release show going on tonight with Singer/Songwriter Erin Rae , but perhaps you need more pop or more barley pops or you like to pay for parking or whatever. If any of those things are the case for you, then you should swing by The High Watt tonight to check out LA indie pop group Milo Greene and Brooklyn's Lucius. If you can't make it to The High Watt, perhaps, you can catch them for free at Grimeys around 6pm on your way home from work. If you can't make it out [...]
It was a "Gold Record Party" over at Grimey's yesterday. After the announcement a couple of weeks ago that The Civil War's Barton Hollow went gold , leave it to Grimey's to set up a kickass celebration for them. I guess that is the least that they deserve after selling 500,000 records. You can check out some pictures from the very crowded Grimey's here , here , and here which confirm that there were a lot of people there. Just so you know, The Civil Wars were there meeting their fans as well .
San Antonio based Hacienda is spending the weekend in Nashville, and it is definitely something that should be on your radar. There music is a fun, summertime, inspirational stewpot with two dashes of Spoon, a teaspoon of The Beach Boys, a sprinkle of Foster The People, a Fitz & The Tantrums garnish, and a base of original awesomeness. I've spent quite a bit of time with this record recently, and it has been the perfect solution to a stressful week. Have a listen to the tracks "Savage" and "Let Me Go" below to let your week's angst melt away. [...]

Alright, so we've arleady hear Flux Pavillion & Nero's take on the anthem 'Must Be the Feeling' from Nero, as well as the extra crunchy Delta Heavy remix. Both we're very sick, but if you like that heavy filthy bass, this track can't get any grimier. Kill the Noise is on some crazy bass music fused with a metal vibe, unlike anything I've ever heard. It's so heavy and epic, my body gets a little confused on how to handle it. Turn up the bass, find some MASSIVE speakers, enjoy! This remix comes out with the Flux Pavillion one on [...]
Hip hop and dubstep are two genres that work incredibly well together. It's cool seeing artists from both sides working with each other. Today I've got a sick hip hop track from XV ft. Wiz Khalifa, remixed by Figure, the guy who made the epic Beatlejuice dubstep track. This song blends the original vocals with his grimey bass for a great remix. Turn it up, enjoy! Interview // Sonia Leigh Interview with Sonia Leigh Twenty-eleven was a big and busy year for singer/songwriter, Sonia Leigh , and after speaking with her last week (interview embedded above), it doesn’t sound like things are going to let up in 2012. In fact, the momentum is only growing. Sonia’s name starting popping up this summer, during CMA Fest. She was working the press circuit and got some valuable stage time during Zac Brown Band’s set at the big LP Field show in Nashville. [...]

Excited to bring you guys a very filthy new anthem from the Zeds Dead boys. It's called Adrenaline, and it's off their upcoming Adrenaline EP coming out on Beatport January 23rd, but they were nice enough for us to pass this out to hold you over. I heard them drop this massive track at the CO 2 night run a few months back. It's got that incredibly dark filthy signature Zeds Dead sound. I love how every new ZD track really sounds unlike anything you've heard. It's got such a unqiue sounding drop, it starts with [...]
