We’ve finally reached that inevitable part of December, when we all reflect upon the triumphs and trails of the past year. In terms of music, 2012 has seen great things come out of the Vancouver music scene. Not only did local duo Japandroids release one of the best records of the year with “Celebration Rock”, but the Peak Performance Project also showcased some amazing up-and-coming talent. Shields is the fourth studio album by American indie rock band Grizzly Bear. The group, which formed in Brooklyn, New York in 2002, consists of Chris Bear, Ed Droste, Daniel Rossen, and Chris Taylor. The album has charted well since its release on September 18, reaching number seventeen on the UK Albums Chart, and number seven on the U.S. Billboard 200. Daniel Rossen is a name that likely doesn't ring a bell with many people. However, he's one of the creative minds behind the band Grizzly Bear and is responsible for many of the band's best songs. Now, Rossen has done his own solo thing and is releasing a self-titled EP on March 19.
