Everybody's favorite Brooklyn band, Grizzly Bear , stopped by Later... With Jools Holland last night to give a very solid performance of Shields highlight "Yet Again" . The four piece proved on the show that their live act is just as good, if not better than on record, with vocals that were absolutely spot-on. It wasn't just the vocals, though; Chris Taylor's bass, Daniel Rossen 's guitar and Chris Bear's drumming were top notch too, breathing a lot of [...]
It's not to say that the Album Of The Week selection for this second week of September has always been a foregone conclusion. This slate on September 18th is actually full of great efforts by a broad set of worthy artists, all situated in the upper echelon of their respective niches - see the laptop-enabled R&B redux of How To Dress Well's Total Loss , the tenth set from evergreen fuzzbox titans Dinosaur Jr and their I Bet On Sky , and the Killers' bold and artful widescreen mainstream American rock record Battle Born . But [...]
With Shields , the New York psych folk outfit Grizzly Bear makes a move toward subtlety, toning down some of the bright, poppy moments that made 20092s Veckatimest such a powerhouse. WATCH THE REVIEW
Yesterday, Grizzly Bear kicked off their new album cycle with " Sleeping Ute ," a tempestuous Rossen-penned gem that the comment section wanted to marry. ("I do!" - You guys.) The band's still-untitled record comes 9/18 via Warp, and it is something we will probably talk about a fair bit around here, because it's been three solid years since Veckatimest was our #2 record of 2009 . That's awhile in blogyears. But if it feels like Grizzly Bear never left, it's because they never really did. Jointly they've been [...]

A little while back, a favorite artist of ours Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson made his way to town and we had the chance to ask him a few questions about his music. Not much is known about the up and coming artist so we hope you find this interview to be informative. Or at least a good read... Follow the jump for our full interview. ATH : Your new record Summer of Fear has an entirely different feel than the first album. [...]
In terms of outrageously talented people, who sometimes come together to make up a band, Grizzly...

I arrived at the Moore Theatre last night just in time to get my Will Call tickets right when the doors opened, thankfully – since it was one of the rainiest days of the year in Seattle, which is saying a lot. I stood out in the lobby for a bit before they opened the doors for us to find our seats. I – along with a few other people – trickled into the old theater through the corridors myself in the box seats, the others spread around within the theater. A few guys came and sat in [...]
by frank I had been drinking all afternoon when a gracious roommate offered up his Here We Go Magic/Grizzly Bear ticket to Sunday night's show at Music Hall of Williamsburg . I jumped at the chance to see two of Brooklyn's brightest bands and my evening would prove majestic. Both groups offered up such conceptually orchestrated sets that seemed to create and harness an energy that would hover in the Music Hall airspace until Grizzly Bear's encore concluded a shade past 11. [...]
Fast Fourier - Wonderlove I should probably stop writing about Chris Taylor's various side-projects - the man will grow uneasy. But by chance (honestly) I've just discovered a group he was in with Grizzly Bear bandmate Chris Bear. Named after an algorithm, Fast Fourier appear to have released two albums, the last of which, Tomorrow, Tomorrow , was released in 2006 - the same year as Yellow House . The album is now out of print and although the gushing blurb on Amazon describes it as "a break in rock history," it [...]

[All photography by Joe Pepin . Photo collages by myself.] I found myself feeling pretty conflicted walking out of the Music Hall of Williamsburg after seeing Grizzly Bear for the second time in the flesh. As songwriters and performers, they are the cream of the crop, and I can assuredly say that Yellow House has changed my life, and my direction artistically. When I saw them at 2640 Space here in Baltimore, I didn't expect much. Their [...]
