Not sure if it's the holiday spirit, but Daniel Rossen (of Grizzly Bear fame) has been in quite the giving mood lately. Not too long ago he shared " Untitled ," a previously unreleased track, and earlier today revealed yet another unearthed gem called "Not Coming Back". It's a lovely, soft and subtle pleaser with Shields -esque tones. Check it out below, along with Rossen's comments on the song: This one is from January 2011 around the same time as a few of the EP songs. it's not exactly [...]

Grizzly Bear 's Daniel Rossen tweeted a song out earlier today as a part of his solo work. Although, according to Rossen, it might not be completely finished, "No Coming Back" is a beautiful offering. Says Rossen about the track: This one is from January 2011 around the same time as a few of the EP songs. it's not exactly finished, the lyric is rough, but I still enjoy what it is and eventually this song lead to other tunes on the EP and on Shields that I'm happy with. It's a wintery New York song [...]

Everybody's favorite Brooklyn band, Grizzly Bear , stopped by Later... With Jools Holland last night to give a very solid performance of Shields highlight "Yet Again" . The four piece proved on the show that their live act is just as good, if not better than on record, with vocals that were absolutely spot-on. It wasn't just the vocals, though; Chris Taylor's bass, Daniel Rossen 's guitar and Chris Bear's drumming were top notch too, breathing a lot of [...]

5 Songs is a weekly series where we point out the strange, the grand, and the unique connections between our favorite songs. Let’s get weird. Words by Chris Welcome to a special edition of 5 Songs . "So, are you, like, the Queen of Vancouver?" Grizzly Bear 's Ed Droste asks me on Saturday night, after an unsurprisingly beautiful show at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom. He's being drole, of course, but it's in reply to my assurances that I'll help rally the troops to Sunday's far-from-Sold-Out second show. "No, just the mayor," I respond - he laughs - and remind him that it's Canadian Thanksgiving tomorrow night, hence the dip in sales. "Oh they'll probably be in a food coma then!" he chortles. He's interested in the differences between Canuckgiving and USgiving, [...]

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012 I sat at Toronto's Massey Hall in anticipation of what I knew would be an amazing show. With Massey Hall undoubtedly being my favourite venue for its wonderful acoustics, I expected the pairing to be magical. Although I had extremely high anticipations, those were nonetheless surpassed once Grizzly Bear came on stage and Ed Droste, Daniel Rossen, Chris Taylor and Christopher Bear began performing. After American-New Zealand band Unknown Mortal Orchestra opened , Grizzly Bear made their way on at 9:15 [...]

I first heard Grizzly Bear in 2008, just before their last full-length release, Veckatimest , which demonstrated a rich, orchestral clockwork between the members of the band and a certain livelihood that was less present on Yellow House . Shields comes from a three year period of silence that yielded solo material from Daniel Rossen and Chris Taylor , under his [...]
With Shields , the New York psych folk outfit Grizzly Bear makes a move toward subtlety, toning down some of the bright, poppy moments that made 20092s Veckatimest such a powerhouse. WATCH THE REVIEW

Grizzly Bear - Shields By Hayley Scott Since their arrival in 2004, success has been sequentially brewing for Grizzly Bear . In a time when British music was submerged in the genericisms of Razorlight and Kasabian, the Brooklyn quartet were conceiving ideas for Horn of Plenty: the home-recorded brainchild of Ed Droste that was not initially meant for prying ears, and only intended to be heard by friends, and the experimental results of which introduced us to the dynamic and intriguing world of Grizzly Bear.
