At 1AM this morning, Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor presented his (essentially) solo project's live-experience to an impressively packed Mercury Loung during a free show with little advance billing. Last night in Los Angeles, Beck, Grizzly Bear's Ed Droste, Mike Patton, Beach House's Victoria Legrand, Zola Jesus, Sean Lennon and more marked the 2o-year passing of French songwriter and filmmaker Serge Gainsbourg with a tribute concert at the Hollwood Bowl. Here are the video highlights: Beck Sir Hansen played three written by Gainsbourg, including his anti-LSD song "Teenie Weenie Boppie" and the sexually provactive "Les Sucettes". Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band hits Empty Bottle

Both albums by Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band were savaged in Pitchfork reviews . Listening to Where the Messengers Meet , the latest release from this Seattle band, I can't say that the latest review (and a lowly 3.3 rating) is deserved. Sure, it's an overwrought sound in stretches and the album overall is uneven but there are high points,  including the songs At Night, Messengers  and Hurrah . The band, which may appeal to fans of Grizzly Bear or Dirty Projectors , plays the Empty Bottle [...]
