• Ok guys, if you haven't heard about the albino cyclops shark yet the only excuse you could possibly give is YOU'RE USING THE INTERNET WRONG. Quit hanging out in the Reddit "Jailbait" section and read some damned news websites. I swear to God, that shark looks like something out of a Pixar movie. Like [...]
You all remember infrequent Swan Fungus contributor Sam, right? He goes by the improbable handle "S Bowlin" in the comments section. He's got two of his own websites, Black Candle Magick and Mask Making. He's authored a few Swan Fungus blog posts through the years, including "Cruising At Red Robin" and "13 Songs That Would [...]

Photography of Yuck in London via Music For Kids Who Can't Read Good (sorry, no credit to the photographer given) ... Hey teamo! Got a special little treat for the day... The other day, the folks at Aloud.com asked if they could do a little guest post by Callie Morris on some awesome up & coming live acts of 2011. A) Being WOEFULLY ignorant on live shows (seriously, think I went to 2 concerts last year, not including the Sled Island music fest in Calgary which, by the [...]

Ed. Note: Yesterday we welcomed the lovely McKee Floyd into the fold. Today, we say hello to Sean Weathersby, A.K.A. Griggs. Much like McKee, Sean will be tapping into the D.C. scene, as well as just giving us his fresh take on the music scene. Welcome Sean! Hi. I'm Sean, and I guess I'm the newest contributor here at ATG. I'm a 23-year-old Mississippian who somehow found himself at school at Bowdoin College in Maine and is now searching for a happy medium somewhere in the DC area. Right now I'm living in [...]

A few months ago in one of my Weekly World (W)news segments I wrote about the Texas State Fair. The highlight of the article I found was that one of the finalists in the fair's contest for the best fried food was "Deep-Fried Beer." I wondered how it would taste, thought about different possibilities for beers that could be successfully deep-fried and tasty, and most importantly I asked if any of my readers in Texas wanted to do some research for me. I couldn't go to the fair because of work commitments, but one wonderful Swan Fungus reader, Agata, wrote [...]
First off, I need to apologise for not posting any Chronicles last month we where supposed to have the homie Buscrates, but he had to pull out unfortunately. But he will be back fa shou... This... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

This morning I woke up at 7:00am and drove over to Runyon Canyon for some early exercise before work. On my way back to my apartment I noticed a huge truck parked at Hollywood and Highland. It was emblazoned with the Top Chef logo. I raced home and quickly Googled to see what was going on, and I discovered that some old chefs from the show were being used for a Top Chef tour to precede the new season of the show, which premieres tomorrow night. I picked up the phone and called Nicci [...]

Hopefully this will be the first in a successful line of guest writers on APFOS. We present to you... Dan! Considering I've never written for a blog I approach the task with some trepidation especially considering I'm invading on a perfectly decent sibling partnership whose franchise is growing in success. Yet here goes, I saw LCD Soundsystem live in Manchester. Due to unforeseen circumstances we missed the support act which seemed fairly unimportant considering the standard of LCD's performance. There's an art to playing dance music without turntables and LCD [...]

The never less than amazing Jacky from Take It To The Chorus reviews a song called Tightrope by Janelle Monáe. Despite signing to Sean Puffy P Diddy Coombes Daddy's Warner imprint, Bad Boy Records, Atlantan wunderkind Janelle Monae is yet to blow up. If 2010 isn't the year of Ms Monae, everything I know about the world will have been a lie. Like Lady Gaga, Janelle doesn't just do songs. She does concepts. Bold, Fritz Lang-influenced concepts. Her debut, Metropolis, narrated the travails of Cindi Mayweather, a 28 th Century pleasure-borg [...]

More often than not, when Evan comes over to my house after work he'll sit on the couch and tinker with his laptop for at least an hour, and eventually mutter "what will I blog about today…" to which I respond "Me!" When he came over today, I asked what he was going to blog about, and he told me I was going to write the entry today. So either a) he's too hungover to make his brain function properly, or b) he's trying to shut me up - if I want to be written about so much, [...]

A few months ago I asked my friend Jessica (or Jet as she is known to her friends), a classical music aficionado, to submit to me a list of the ten worst composers of all time . The entry was something of a hit with readers, who responded quite negatively to our scathing criticism of some of the most recognizable names in the history of music. She provided the insight and I added little off-color remarks at the end of each statement, like an expertly placed cherry atop the world's most delicious sundae. One comment, left by a reader named [...]

Hi from Maine! Having been an avid ATG follower, I thought maybe I should throw my hat into the guest-post ring. I'm a 6'1" white kid, attend college in New England, wear vans from time to time, rant about politics, and enjoy listening to music. Oh, and Zack's my cousin; people are pretty, pretty jealous. Oh, so ere's some tunage: MP3: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros – "Home" The entire self-titled album is complete joy, but "Home" jumps out from [...]

As you may or may not have read in the comment section of yesterday's post, from the moment I started reading Evan's "Top Ten Thoughts To Get You Through Your Birthday" list, I felt compelled to re-write the very same list in such a way as to make one believe that the ideas put forth by Evan are not at all reasons to be happy, but reasons to feel depressed, upset, pissed off, or otherwise disgruntled. It seemed like a very Evan thing of me to do. I had an almost "Evan vs. CNN Career [...]
