All week long we've been examining the evolution of Hajimemashite by Umphrey's McGee from its roots in the pre-UM project Tashi Station through one of the best live versions yet at the recent Summer Camp Festival . Over its 14-year life span "Haj" has appeared on numerous Umphrey's live albums, including Songs For Older Women , but went missing from all of the band's studio efforts...until now. All week long we've been sharing versions of the Umphrey's McGee classic Hajimemashite from throughout the past 14 years to show how far the song has come from its roots before the formation of the band to its inclusion on the recently released Death By Stereo LP. We're showing the evolution of Umphrey's McGee's Hajimemashite by sharing one version from throughout the last 14 years each day this week. Yesterday, we presented an early version of Hajimemashite from 1997 that was recorded by Brendan Bayliss and Ryan Stasik's pre-Umphrey's band Tashi Station. When Umphrey's was formed in 1998, Haji was one of the first tunes to make the repertoire. Remember when you'd have to wait weeks to hear your favorite band's big shows? We've all gotten used to hearing audio within 24 hours of a concert ending, but it isn't often high quality video footage surfaces quickly.
