If you know our friends over at Hardly Art , they've been dabbling in the softer side of indie rock for the last several releases (not that we mind at all #justsaying). But, when you hear this booming track, you'll realize that the label has a new force to be reckoned with in K-Holes . Their new record, Dismania, should be out on the label on May 1st, and there's something sonically sinister lurking. It's got the reckless abandon you can recall from early [...]

Hunx of Hunx & His Punx will be releasing a solo LP at the end of the month for Hardly Art Records. From the label: "Hairdresser Blues is the first solo record from front man Hunx, and features all Hunx, all the time (minus drums, played by Daniel Pitout). Listen in as Hunx sings on about love, hairspray, and rollers, all backed by contagious pop melodies with streaks of glam, garage, and the Dunedin Sound in its hair." The album was produced by Voidoids guitarist Ivan Julian [...]

Black Marble is Ty Kube and Chris Stewart, who produce somewhat minimalist synth music. With a synth drum beat, a synth melody, and deep, dark vocals, "Pretender" is a song that is one part Joy Division, one part Craft Spells, and one part its own thing. The song can be found on the band's new EP via Hardly Art . It's called Weight Against The Door and it's out digitally now and on vinyl Valentine's Day. Download: "Pretender" by [...]

So we typically toss a video onto a post when highlighting a new band or a show preview or something and let you draw your own conclusion about it. Sometimes we throw a change-up... strike that - let's call it a round up. Most of these videos are of bands we have previously talked about here on Draw Us Lines, so we won't be telling you much about those bands themselves, just some musings that really aren't worth a damn. If a picture is worth 1000 words, then a video must be worth a million. Hold on to your hats! [...]

Black Marble released their debut EP yesterday via Hardly Art Records . Titled Weight Against The Door , the first cut "Pretender" is here for your sonic pleasure. Building on a tight beat, the track has a murky, cavernous feeling that is supported by deep echoing vocals - the combination creates a dark pop sensibility is every bit as catchy as any of it's light hearted counterparts. You can grab the Weight Against The Door EP via iTunes and check out the band on Facebook . Black Marble [...]

I'm a label loyalist, so when our friends at Hardly Art send something our way, I'm pretty much guaranteed to like it. Perhaps that leads me to make judgmental errors in regards to what's good and what's not, but in the case of Black Marble , I think I'm right on with this one. The vinyl release of their Weight Against the Door EP will be out on Valentine's Day, and I hope it features just as many darkened tracks as this number. [...]

By Trevor Meyer La Sera will release her new LP, Sees The Light , March 24th. "Please Be My Third Eye" is a guitar-driven ensemble of punk, fuzz, pop, and garage. Laden with a purposeful melody throughout, "Please Be My Third Eye" stands out among the masses of the surging indie/shoegaze/fuzzpop circus. La Sera is playing at the Echo in LA, Jan 12, so make sure to catch her live. La Sera - Please Be My Third Eye [...]

Stream: La Sera - "Please Be My Third Eye" Today's been such a good day for music already, with the new Ghost Beach track's edit from Champagne, the At The Drive-In reunion and all the beef between Common and Drake (which is super lean, minimal beef, BTW), but the day keeps getting better as La Sera a/k/a Katy Goodman is finally giving out details of her new album via Hardly Art, "Sees The Light". "Please Be My Third Eye" is almost really too perfect to believe, but it's so great you just have to. [...]

Within minutes of receiving this email, this track blew up all over the Internet; everyone is posting it. This is a testament to the excitement surrounding the new release from La Sera , which will be hitting the streets on March 24th via the good people over at Hardly Art . I really like the juxtaposition of vocals and music on this track; it's got this Misfits/Spits guitar riff pushing you on through, but we all know Katy Goodman's vocals come with that girl-pop sugar-we all know we [...]

San Francisco's Sandwitches make enchanting country-pop for the garage-rock crowd.
Over the next two weeks we'll be counting down our 10 favorite records released in the Pacific Northwest in 2011. We can tell you and enumerate 10 (after much debating), but we can't tell you what our 17th and 23rd favorite records are (and keep a straight face), so after the new year we'll also [...]
It's been a banner year for Hardly Art. Seemingly back-to-back-to-back-to-back fantastic albums filled out a year capped of by the Gem Club album Breakers, a truly somber bit of orchestration. To celebrate the festive days cluttering up the calender before the inevitable turn towards 2012, the good folk at Hardly Art sent over a list [...]

(Hardly Art, 2011) Jacuzzi Boys know what we're talking about here: raspberry feelings, amiright? But I really just want to talk about the title track, "Glazin'," and that opening line: "sugar in my hair / melting everywhere in the sunshine," which brings me to my next point: if you're going to be outside, particularly in the summertime months--Jacuzzi Boy months to be sure--consider avoiding sugar in yr hair. And yeah, I get it, Crystal Light can change yr hair color. Just be careful, one of my friend's friends put strawberry Kool Aid in his hair and [...]
We've got a bunch of postcards for you this week from Bryan John Appleby, The Smokey Brights and Gold Leaves who just finished a cross-country tour a couple days ago. Having driven through the midwest twice in a months time, they've got some excellent soundtrack advice for driving through Nebraska. (You can click on the [...]
