The Pokketmixer—The World’s Smallest Mixer

The Pokketmixer—The World’s Smallest Mixer Definitely not a professional thing, but no doubt fun. The idea behind the Pokketmixer is pretty straightforward, a simple plug and play solution that'll allow you and a friend to play DJ while on the go. No battery needed for this, just plug in two MP3 players and you got yourself a mobile DJ set up—minus pitch functions, of course. The idea came about during a car ride back in 2009 when peeps in the car had a dispute about who was going to plug their MP3-Player into the car stereo. If [...]

Pioneer Mixer DJM-750

Pioneer Mixer DJM-750 Gotta say that Pioneer 's DJM-750 four-channel mixer looks pretty damn rich on a FX manipulation level. More features, more creativity…we're inspired to get our hands on one. The mixer features Boost Color FX and a built-in 24-bit/96 kHz USB sound card with 13 Beat FX—including the new Vinyl Brake—with a dedicated Level/Depth knob for tactile control of the wet/dry mix. ItsNate - Hardware (prod. Jon Phonics) (Video)

HARDWARE [ItsNate X Jon Phonics] #NeverAverageTalkingExcellent COMING SOON
Jon Phonics laces Piff Gang affiliate ItsNate with a spacey and detached doozy that could as happily be the break in a dance track as hip hop. Is this "cloud rap"? Who cares, it works either way. Keep tabs on ItsNate as he gears up for the release of his NeverAverageTalkingExcellent mixtape.

NAB 2012 Standout : Blackmagic Digital Cinema Camera

NAB 2012: Blackmagic $2995 Digital Cinema Camera - Detailed Interview
Last week I flew out to Las Vegas for NAB. The show covers everything from post-production and computer hardware to lenses, cameras and lighting. It's hard to summarize everything that I saw because I was constantly in overload, so I decided to pick the one product that stuck out, the Blackmagic Digital Cinema Camera . The Digital Cinema Camera is a Raw ( Cinema DNG 12-Bit ), 2.5K ( 2432 x 1366 ) camera for 3,000.00 USD. There's a laundry list of features that the camera offers but mainly...it's very, very cheap and it's output at [...]

Two Weeks with the iSpeed 3

Four Day Weekend 2011
Shooting at 2000fps never gets old. A few months ago I had the opportunity to work with the Olympus iSpeed 3 from Jordy Klein . The iSpeed 3 is a high speed camera that can shoot up to 2000fps at 1280 x 720. It will actually shoot 1280 x 1024 if you want it to but most of us are looking for 16:9, 2:1 or 2:35:1 ratios. I won't go into too much technical detail, but I'll respond to any questions about the camera in the comments. It has an on-board CDU (Controller Display Unit) [...]

I CD spariranno dai negozi l'anno prossimo? Il sondaggio di Soundsblog

I CD spariranno dai negozi l'anno prossimo?

The Han Soldering Gun

The Han Soldering Gun From Make Magazine and Craig Smith : "About 1983, when I was fifteen, I dropped my dad’s red Bakelite soldering gun and broke the casing. Of course he was upset, so I did my best to “fix it.” So I took my original Star Wars Han Solo pistol and gutted it to hold the soldering gun components. I even ran the lightbulb up into the scope on top. The button on the handle worked well for the trigger switch. Ten years later, when the old house was sold, the gun wound up in my belongings. To this day, when an [...]

Solar Sinter Project

Solar Sinter Project Besides approaching the most pressing issue of our time from a very interesting perspective, this video by Markus Kayser is absolutely stunning from a visual perspective. Kayser harnesses raw solar energy to produce glass objects using via a 3D printing process. Fascinating. It's visuals like these (and these ) that make me realize I need to spend a lot more time in the desert taking pictures. Solar Sinter Project via Robert Andersen

Guitar Recording Interface

Cakewalk VS-20 Guitar Recording System
Recording interface Suggestion? Hey, I want to buy a good quality, cheap recording interface. Maybe around the $200-$300 range? I want to record voice, guitar (both acoustic and electric), keyboard and maybe drums. It also has to be relatively easy to use. Any suggestions? Must be Mac compatible. And I know Audacity seems to be the program [...]

Studio Frisson

Studio Frisson I came across these great photos from Québec-based recording facility Studio Frisson while gear-lusting tonight and was stricken by their quality. Most studios don't do a very good job of tastefully photographing the facilities so it was refreshing to see these very well executed portraits of some of the most rare and prized recording equipment in the world. Some of the post on the photos is a little synthetic for my tastes, but still nice. Unfortunately the images are watermarked so you'll have to imagine what they'd look like clean. Speaking of watermarked photos, I've [...]
