Another spooktacular Halloween has come and gone, but the memories will always stay. LessThan3 was at Friday's festivities at HARD Haunted Mansion in LA, as well as the pre-party in NYC on October 22nd. Needless to say, things got crazy. The festival saw a wide variety of music including dubstep, house, moombahton, techno, and everything in between. After a somewhat lackluster performance by Laidback Luke , Soulwax took the mainstage at the Shrine Expo Hall in LA performing as their 2ManyDJs act, and boy did they ever bring the energy up. [...]
As "holidays" go, Halloween has gotten completely out of hand. But the start of dress-up-and-get-stupid weekend is making for some good shows: ► HARD Haunted Mansion kicks off a two-night stand at the Shrine, with the opener headlines by Fatboy Slim and many other DJs,, including Laidback Luke, Tiga, SBTRKT and the Gaslamp Killer, on board. ► The Felice Brothers visit the Satellite behind the recent release of their fourth album "Celebration, Florida." That's their video for "Fire at the Pageant," above. ► Los Abandoned reunites to rock [...]

While New York City's HARD Haunted Mansion could not compete with the scale of the events billed under the same name in other cities (like Los Angeles), what they lacked in size they made up for with a prime quality smaller roster of acts. With Skream & Benga , Joker , Dillon Francis , Gesaffelstein , and HARD creator Destructo at the helm, HARD was bound to be a good time. And there was the promise of an afterparty with Dillon Francis and a disco set by Skream . [...]

HARD did it again, this time bringing its Halloween tradition to NYC.

I had the pleasure of listening to this mix from start to finish and I couldn't have been happier with it, 55 minutes packed full of bass and the mixing it's self is enough to warrant a download which is free aswell. HARD Haunted Mansion is back and HARDER than ever. After being in attendance for last year's festival, I can say without a doubt that it was not only one of the best HARD events I've ever been to, but one of the best events I've been to, period. Two days (Oct 28 & 29) of a vintage selection of DJs and live acts, two awesome stages at the Shrine Expo, and thousands of crazy, wild ravers dressed up in ridiculous costumes. If that doesn't sell you right there, then check out the lineup. [...]

Ditta & Dumont - Haunted Mansion

The grueling process of becoming an 'American Idol' is usually nerve-racking, but for this season's contestants, it's been downright scary.
More from the Night Slugs camp as this set catches L-Vis 1990 at Hard Haunted Mansion 2010 in Los Angeles. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

So I kept telling myself that I wasn't going to go to Hard this year, sadly, due to other priorities, but Sunday afternoon a friend convinced me to go. I definitely made a great decision despite the fact that I am writing this post severely deprived of sleep, but it was worth it. Anyway, I was only in attendance Sunday night but I know many people who went Saturday. The people I have talked to say the best sets were from Rusko and the Bloody Beetroots. Sunday night, my favorites were A-trak, the special guest, Miike Snow (DJ-set), and Boys [...]

I like to keep tabs on artists I was fortunate to encounter in my work on this blog. It enables a wider perspective of how the artist works and develops and how the sound evolves or in some unfortunate cases stops. In the case of The Haunted Mansions, the developments are all positive. A 3 piece indie psychedelics/freak folk from the North West, I stumbled upon them about 3 months ago ( post ). In the meantime they've started working on a new album, which at least as the first single from it suggests, will not only be [...]

Obviously inspired by the likes of Animal Collective, Beirut and possibly the Dodos and Band of Horses to name a few, The Haunted Mansions (formerly known as Greenlandic Blaque) still manage to create a sound of their own. A North-West American band, some of its members also dabble in video animation (see group member Seth Nicholas' YouTube channel here ) . It should be interesting to follow the group's path and work, in animation and music, and watch their artistic distinctiveness forming. Check out The Haunted Mansions on their MySpace and [...]

We have been trying to bring you the latest and greatest from one of our favorite DJ groups of all time ROYAL RUMBLE for awhile now... and their newest mix doesn't disappoint. In fact, I was a little scared / uncomfortable listening to the beginning when I heard it for the first time. I happened to be in my living room alone with all the lights off except the TV so that didn't help. Royal Rumble has always been blending music genres and styles in all their mixes and this one is the same ... its got [...]

"I think it brings a lot of creative potential for the music industry, not just for the club. It has already proved its potential in museums and in cinemas and this is an experiment in a club. It's new technology but I think it's a start and I am happy that it takes place at Tresor." Dimitri Hagemann , owner of legendary Berlin techno club Tresor , is talking about IOSONO , a system being touted as the next big thing in audio technology and which saw its [...]

Autumn has arrived! The leaves are falling. The pumpkins are being picked. The local apothecary has stocked up on bags of candy, masks, and spooky merchandise. A cold brisk wind whips up fallen leaves in the sky like hundreds of spidery gossamers blowing out of an old house attic. A fast-paced walk past an ancient graveyard at dusk makes the heart pound. A tense trek through the local haunted house with friends on the weekend. It's time to discuss what music is best listened to in October and those spooky moments in between [...]
