photo by Allie Pasquier Animal Collective is back! On the heels of new single "Honeycomb", the band has announced that new album Centipede Hz will be out in September, released through Domino Records. The band says that Centipede Hz will take them back to their roots, away from the sampling-heavy nature of Merriweather Post Pavilion and back to the garage sound of Strawberry Jam and others. Domino has released a track listing, which you can check out here . Watch the trailer [...]

Stuarto Glasser, host of the All Around the World Music Show, called me up a little after 5pm Friday and asked if I could fill in for him. Thinking it would be a great way to attract a few more listeners I agreed. I headed home and put together a playlist of some of my favorite indie artists from around the world. The first half of the list below aired as the split show: The Indie Music Show from All Around the World. I began with some lovable indie [...]
This is the second time that Erin I have attended the Pitchfork Music Festival (the first time being in 2009), and while the bands have always been a big draw, we attended primarily tell sell our humble screen-printed rock n’ roll posters at the coinciding Flatstock Poster Festival. Even so, with there being two of us, there is always the opportunity for one of us to sneak off to see some one band or another, and this year was no different. Here is what I saw / what I learned / observed: [...]

During Fleet Foxes' headlining set on Saturday night, I looked up from the crowd to the jumbo-tron on the left and noticed the boom camera was high in the air shooting the audience. It was an endless sea of faces made orange by the stage's flood light and a surprisingly powerful street-light that hung over the main stage. Eighteen thousand people watching Fleet Foxes - if you would have told me three years ago that this Seattle collective would be playing for 18,000 people I would have pushed you down a hill. It's a testament to the spirit [...]

It was brought to my attention that Coachella is this weekend. I have not been to Coachella since they made it a three-day festival, in fact the last Coachella I attended was in 2004 when Radiohead headlined, dang 2004, I am really getting old. At that time, I felt that a two day festival made for a long weekend, it was a lot of bands to get through and the temperatures were almost certainly at 100 degrees, so I can't even fathom the kind of marathon energy it would take to get through three days. Also, until a few years [...]

Dipped in Dollars is proud to present our February Mix of the Month , where we ask an up-and-coming artist to present us with a mix/mixtape that will allow us to gain better perspective of their process/show us what we can expect to hear from them in the future. Indian Summer is a little mix I made featuring some of my favorite songs we've been throwing out over these last few months. It doesn't feature any music you'll hear on the upcoming Comanche LP, but it's a solid [...]

( I made this and I approve of the lens flare ) I never really understood why some blogs and music sites put their "best of" lists out before the year was actually over, that might help explain why our Best of 2009 post is coming a bit after the new year. That and waiting on Kid Color to get his list finished (jokin'). But seriously, this past year doesn't really need any kind of special recap, it was just a good year for music. From remixes to albums, there was much to celebrate in our community. I [...]

Here is my top ten personal favorites of 2009 accompanied with my favorite song from each and a few incomplete sentences. ////////////////////////////// ////////////////////////////// /////////////////////// [...]
