It’s January and it’s not cold. I know, right? I might make it out of my first ever winter without seeing a snowflake, when they’ve had snow three times just four hours away from me. Strange. Plus, the Caps are still mired in mediocrity. At least Ovechkin is scoring a few goals now though…look how happy Semin is when they win a game nowadays. Anyway, I’m here to deliver yet another twelve pack of MP3 goodies that have been dropped off in the past bit by PR companies/bands/well wishers that we haven’t had time to pick through or [...]

by teepoo I hope in playing this song it will bring more sunshine, rather than the dreariness that has been in the skies in the past few days. The Heavy Dream is headed by Dave King who has spent 20 years working with some of Canada's most successful recording artists. Here's a song from his latest project that sounds like it should already be a classic The Heavy Dream- Under the Golden Sun

The halcyon days of summer may be well behind us already, but Hamilton's The Heavy Dream are keeping the good vibrations going with their recently released new album, Under The Golden Sun . Recorded in Barn Window-head Dreamer Dave King's converted barn studio-the record is the result of a year's worth of work, and features players Pat Sansone (from Wilco and The Autumn Defense ), Paul Linklater (of The Pinecones and Colleen and Paul ) and James Strachan. Though this is King's debut as The Heavy Dream, [...]

How was everybody's week? My family came into town for a visit, that was nice. Now it's time to share some great songs and videos in the latest Weekly Roundup .
Here's another one that miraculously found my MTIB email inbox. This one was recorded in a barn. Yep. Not only that, but it features great harmonies, some interesting musical touches, and a general feeling of relaxin' under the blue sky on a sunny day. At least that's what I feel like while listening to the title track from The Heavy Dream's upcoming album (sometime this month!?). Fantastic song.

A look at what's happening right now: Interesting finds in the inbox. Drum In Your Chest from BIGkidsmusic on Vimeo . New act from London. Helluva catchy sound. Stream: BIGkids - Drum In Your Chest Last winter, Canadian band The Rest were a few weeks away from completing their album [...]
Lashings of Hallertau 's excellent beer and the sprightly indie pop of all-girl octet St. Rupertsberg made for a delightful Saturday afternoon at The Golden Dawn. Sunny tunes in a C86 style, close harmonies, instrument swapping shenanigans, handclaps, bursts of brass.. just right. The girls captured the mood of the day perfectly, despite operating in a space slightly smaller than your average linen cupboard , and I'll be watching out for future releases. Their debut EP is called Seasonal Glimpse - check it out at Bandcamp . [...]
