It's been over ten years since the creative community last came together in these numbers to celebrate the ultimate in small press publishing: zines. These small, usually handmade, noncommercial publications have persisted as a useful medium within the creative community because of their convenient size and typically inexpensive construction. For one day only, February 19, 2012, from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., the L.A. Zine Fest and The Last Bookstore will play host to more than 75 zinemakers and luminaries of the L.A. arts community to celebrate these holdouts of print. A broad form, zines [...]
Did you love seeing Dinosaur Jr. play Bug live in 2011? Or maybe you missed it, and now you're kicking yourself-literally? Maybe you're doing crazed yoga moves while wearing metal cleats so that you can really pound the spiky soles directly into your own eye sockets again and again, each time hoping that this bloodied kick might be the one to flood your body with enough pain to extinguish the burning RAGE you feel at yourself for missing the ultimate band reunion experience of your lifetime? [...]

I bought this on CD back in 1995 after seeing a live performance of Mike Watt featuring Eddie Vedder and Dave Grohl performing "Big Train" on John Stewart's late night show . Remember that show? Ball-Hog Or Tugboat? is anything but consistent as its detractors will undoubtedly raise as it's main flaw. Yes, it's Mike Watt showcasing his incredible cast of musical friends. But, you can't argue with songs like Piss-Bottle Man (featuring vocals by Evan Dando), Chinese Firedrill (featuring vocals by Frank Black), [...]

Henry Rollins is quite an opinionated fellow. When he's not out MCings reunion tour announcements, or telling you why pop punk sucks, he spews about the state of the music industry. In the video above, he talks about the state of the music industry in a very optimistic manner, and it's quite an interesting perspective ...
It's always refreshing when a member of an older generation of musicians "gets it" and doesn't come off as sounding like a dinosaur. It's not surprising that Henry Rollins, who spent decades screaming his lungs out in dive bars and basements, would appreciate the DIY ethos that the Internet and ever-cheapening recording technology offer, but [...]

"Henry Rollins is on a mission to figure out why many have struggled with feelings of aggression their entire lives. National Geographic Channel's Explorer: Born to Rage? investigates the discovery behind a single warrior gene directly associated with violent behavior. With bullying and violent crime making headlines, this controversial finding stirs up the nature-versus-nurture debate. Now, former Grammy-winning rocker, author and radio/television broadcaster Henry Rollins goes in search of carriers from diverse, sometimes violent backgrounds who agree to be tested for the genetic mutation. Who has the warrior gene? And are all violent [...]
