Classic hip hop music from Rakim . Enough said. With the release of Holy Are You, I was buggin' out hearing fairly new material from Rakim. I went back and scoured through my Rakim collection, and found this gem, Cold Feelin' , produced by Ayatollah. Cold Feelin' was not an easy hip hop single to find, as the only version that circulated had a DJ. However, as you should already come to expect, we have the dirty and instrumental version of Cold Feelin' by Rakim here for you for today's hip hop single of the day. [...]

After a brief hiatus, the hip hop single of the day segment is back by popular demand. Inspectah Deck released Big City as the B side to He's A Rebel in 2003. Both singles were off his album, The Movement. I always felt that The Movement was an album that so many looked over. That can be said about every Inspectah Deck album, as after Triumph, expectations were sky high. Nonetheless, The Movement was a dope album from Inspectah Deck and Big City was easily one of my favorite tracks off it. [...]
For today's hip hop single of the day, I'm bringing it back to 2002 when hip hop crossover act, Jurassic 5, released What's Golden. While the track wasn't my favorite from them, it definitely reached commercial success. You can't deny Jurassic 5's dopeness, though they often are dubbed with the label of backpack rap (what's wrong with that anyways??? I mean, Buckshot is a self-proclaimed backpacker!). Jurassic 5 was the epitome of a dope cross-over hip hop act, so you know what to do, hit the download, and for my DJs, MCs, and Producers, enjoy the acapella and instrumental! [...]

When I posted Angel Dust by Cormega as the hip hop single of the day not too long ago, I believe I said that I would post the B side to the single soon after. Well, here it is. Cormega released his collaboration with Mobb Deep, entitled Killaz Theme 2, as the B-Side to his 1997 123 single, Angel Dust. Not much more to say, because Cormega fans will recognize, and QB fans will recognize. And as you should expect, I have made the instrumental and acapella available for download for all you hip hop artists, DJs, and producers. [...]

We're bringing it back to 1998 with today's hip hop single of the day at WeLiveThis.com. Gangstarr and M.O.P. linked up to deliver this timeless single off the Blade Soundtrack in 1998. The DJ Premier beat is classic, and M.O.P. brings that hardcore, as if you really expected anything else. Hit the link to download 1/2 and 1/2 from Gangstarr and M.O.P. Instrumental for 1/2 and 1/2? Yes, we got that for you too. Download: Gangstarr featuring M.O.P. - 1/2 and 1/2 | Gangstarr featuring M.O.P. - 1/2 and 1/2 Instrumental [...]

In light of Mos Def's interview with Angie Martinez on Hot 97 , I had to bring back Extra Sweet Brown Sugar as today's hip hop single of the day. Like Fine , Mos Def released Extra Sweet Brown Sugar on the Brown Sugar Soundtrack . You can't even remotely deny just how hip hop the movie Brown Sugar was. Faith Evans makes a guest appearance, singing the hook for Extra Sweet Brown Sugar. Before I hit you with the download links for Extra Sweet Brown Sugar, its instrumental, and its [...]

Canibus and The Lost Boyz collaborated on a few classic joints back in the day. Today's hip hop single of the day is Group Home Family , which was one of those tracks, as The Lost Boyz, Panama P.I. and Canibus delivered a lyrical monster. I don't have to say much about Canibus, as real hip hop music listeners remember his verses from Beasts From The Beast, Boyz 2 Men, and his first two albums. With lyrics coming back in 2009, one has to wonder if Canibus will make a legitimate return. Hit the [...]

Black Thought is featured in today's hip hop single of the day with his 123 single, Hardware , which was released in 2000. Black Thought is one of the nicest emcees in the game that I feel often gets overlooked by a lot of those looking to foolishly ranked the greatness of artists. Of course, we have the instrumental for emcees as well! Hit the download, and check the bonus video of Black Thought and Skillz covering Run DMC. Download: Black Thought - Hardware (2000) | [...]

The Alchemist and Mobb Deep released Backwards on 123 Vinyl Single in 2003. Classic Mobb Deep with a signature Alchemist beat. Enough said about this track. Once again, I've got the acapella and instrumental for all the producers and emcees respectively. We might have to drop a mixtape featuring some exclusive tracks over all these hip hop single of the day instrumentals... right? Download: Alchemist featuring Mobb Deep - Backwards | Alchemist featuring Mobb Deep - Backwards Instrumental | Alchemist featuring Mobb Deep - Backwards [...]

For a lot of hip hop fans like myself, Brown Sugar was THAT movie. I don't think Brown Sugar will ever get old. Anyhow, the song that finally gets Mos Def spin on Angie Martinez's show during the movie was entitled Fine . It's funny... I never actually knew the name of the song until actually stumbling upon this single not too long ago. Mos Def is one of the most talented artists in music, period... no autotune. He's also an incredibly talented actor. With Mos Def's Ecstatic album [...]
Yeah yeah, I know all the buzz today is about D.O.A. and Jay-Z... I'll throw a post up about that later tonight... but for now, today's hip hop single of the day is Mister Mister from Kool G. Rap . Mister Mister was released via white label back in 1996. Any track from Kool G. Rap is going to be raw uncut hip hop, enough said. There's not many that can compete with Kool G. Rap when it comes to hood/gangster story-telling... and his rhyme scheme... ask some of the best in hip hop music history who [...]
Da Ranjahz dropped Inspheration ( Inspiration ) as the single to their 2003 album, Who Feels It Knows . The track features Cee-Lo singing a classic hook and an incredible DJ Premier beat. The duo has been considerably underrated over the years, though Wais P dropped an excellent mixtape last year. Look for me to re-post that mixtape soon. Wais P also is featured on Don Notz lead single, Lead By Example, which will be dropping soon. Until then, enjoy Inspheration... and of course, we got the acapella and instrumental [...]

We got another B-side for you for today's Hip Hop Single of the Day. This time WeLiveThis.com brings to you Movas and Shakers from Inspectah Deck . The track was featured on Uncontrolled Substance , which was released in 1999. For the serious Wu-Tang Clan fans, remember the flood in Rza's basement that destroyed a ton of his beats? Well, apparently that was the cause for this album being pushed back from 1995 to 1999. I wonder if had Uncontrolled Substance not have been delayed, would it have been the considered the best of [...]

For today's hip hop single of the day at WeLiveThis.com, we got a Wu-Tang Clan and D.I.T.C. collaboration. Fat Joe , Showbiz , Big Pun and Raekwon ... need I say more? Firewater showcases vintage Fat Joe... I can't even remember the last time I heard him rhyming like he does on Firewater. In a way, Firewater really exemplifies the differences between each era of hip hop music, from '96 to today. It was the B-Side to Envy . The B side! Imagine that, a track featuring Big [...]

We're starting the month of June with a timeless hip hop single, a Def Squad joint from Jamal . Jamal's Fades Em All was featured on his 1995 album Last Chance, No Breaks . The single was Jamal's greatest success in the industry, as it reached #9 on the Rap Charts. Those that do have the single generally have the version with Pete Rock's remix, though we got for you the original with its acapella and instrumental for all my DJs and Emcees! On the real though, whatever happened to Jamal? I heard he [...]

Today's got that nostalgic vibe goin' on. I woke up to watch New York Undercover while goin' through a number of different joints for today's Hip Hop Single of the Day. New York Undercover was my ish back in the day... the first time I heard Anthony Hamilton's music was on that show. Today, D'Angelo was singing Brown Sugar to close out the episode. But anyway, back to the topic at hand. Today's hip hop single of the day at WeLiveThis.com is Angel Dust by Cormega featuring Havoc . Angel [...]

It's hard to believe that it has been TWELVE years since Whateva Man was released by Redman . Whateva Man was and still remains a timeless Def Squad track as Redman delivers that raw hardcore hip hop sound that defined the 90s. With Blackout 2 out now, Redman is still very relevant today and still delivering that raw uncut. Hit the download for Whateva Man below. Oh yeah, and I got the instrumental up for all the MCs, and the acapella for all the producers and DJs. Oh yeah, and go out and cop that [...]

I know even some of the most authentic hip hop listeners forgot about this Jadakiss and Prodigy collaboration off the Violator album in 2001. Livin' The Life represents that street life, hardcore hip hop music that both Jadakiss and Prodigy illustrate in their rhymes. Livin' The Life was that joint, though it definitely gets zzzed on when it comes to some of the illest hip hop collaborations. D-Block and Mobb Deep . Seriously, does it get any more hood than that? Hit the download... both the track and instrumental as you [...]

It's no secret. The music industry is changing, and although an artist like Eminem might sell 600k in his first week, album sales are at ridiculously low levels. With that being said, the single is seemingly starting to come back, which makes sense considering people are always going to want music, yet may feel more comfortable spending $.99, $1.99, or even $3.99 rather than $9.99-$18.99 on an album. With the single coming back in popularity, Don Notz and I have decided to unleash a new daily feature to WeLiveThis.com. We'll be highlighting a 123 hip hop single from the either [...]
