Holograms ’ self-titled album on Captured Tracks is one of the strongest debuts we’ve heard all year. Here’s their  Pau Suris and Pau Dalmases-directed  video for the pop-punk blast “Fever”, although I’m more of a “ Monolith ” kind of guy.

A new track from the forthcoming Holograms album, which is self-titled and dropping via Captured tracks on July 10th. The band hails from Sweden and showcases a noisy, chaotic post-punk vibe. After a handful of listens to this album, I have to admit it is a bit similar to the Iceage album that dropped last year, New Brigade , but Holograms come off much less abrasive; favoring catchy hooks and moody vocals instead.

Like the tension before a battle, Holograms 'Monolith' starts out stalking before bursting into one of the most exciting post punk tracks I've heard in some time... people! places! As we’ve grown so accustomed to hearing sweet indie-pop from Sweden, it’s nice to know there’s still some bad boys in the country. Punk quartet Holograms , has been getting heaps of buzz, and with their new single “Monolith”, you can understand why people are growing excited about these guys. The track fools with you, before it opens up like an erupting volcano and will just swirl you in to the darker side of town. Their self-titled debut LP will out next month on Captured Tracks.

Stockholm quartet Holograms is gearing up for the July 10th release of their debut album. They've just unveiled a third offering from the self-titled EP (out on Captured Tracks); listen to 'Monolith' below.

Swedish proto-punk upstarts Holograms just released "Monolith", the opening track from their upcoming self-titled debut. Whereas our first listen, "Chasing My Mind" , demonstrated the band's electronic tendencies, this more voluminous number is like a hardcore version of The Cure, emphasizing noisy guitars, cutting bass, and loads of angst and fury.
