With each new release it's becoming more apparent that Holy Wave is the next great psychedelic band to come out of Austin. Fresh off the release of their excellent debut LP, Knife Hits , the local quintet released a 5-song EP to coincide with their performance at this year's Austin Psych Fest. Holy Wave is grounded well within the Austin psychedelic scene, but they take many interesting side steps into other trains of thought. A crutch of some psychedelic rock bands is to fall into a strung out and trudging groove that would be cool if you were stoned. Holy Wave never falls into this defect of their genre.
