The real perpetrator will be kept anonymous though, to insure his safety. All I will say is that he has a fondness for the British band Blur... ~ Honey Is Cool - "I Suprise" ~
by christos mountzouros Recently Christos got to sit down with one of his musical icons, Jenny Wilson . Her breath of work and constant evolution has made her one of the more interesting and often mysterious figures in the music scene. Well known for her work with The Knife , Jenny has had a successful solo career and is perhaps one of the only artists to sing about motherhood in such a revealing and intriguing way. She is FINALLY coming to the states this summer and [...]

Fever Ray (aka Karin Dreijer Andersson of The Knife) will bring her highly anticipated live show to North America this Fall. The tour begins with two performances at NYC's Webster Hall, a fitting venue for the launch of Andersson's return to the North American stage. In 2006 Andersson and brother Olof Dreijer - performing together as The Knife - debuted live to U.S. audiences with two sold-out shows at the acclaimed venue. This time, now supported by a four-piece band, Andersson's Fever Ray persona will be the main attraction. Swedish multimedia artist Andreas Nilsson - [...]

Karin Dreijer Andersson have always been making mesmerizing music, whether in the band Honey Is Cool previously, or part of The Knife with her brother. While The Knife is on a hiatus, she decides to go totally solo under the project name Fever Ray , and mesmerizing as an adjective just doesn't cut it anymore. If you were even the slightest bit an electronic fan, Silent Shout by The Knife was pulsating and breathtaking. Now in our opinion, [...]

Plainly not the Contrast Podcast here, but had I gotten round to it... this week's theme is/was Mountains, and one of these woulda been my choice (hey, they say anyone can join in) . Cripes, I could build a six-lane motorway with good intentions, but the days dribbled by, and almost a week after resolving to have a crack - err, well... I haven't done. Sunshine, Moonlight, & Good Times I can't blame, nor any form of dancing; just bloody depression - maybe next week eh?, I'll kick my own arse otherwise. [...]

This. Remix. Is. Epic. Maybe it's that love is blind and anything No Age touches is Midas in my eyes, but their remix of Fucked Up 's "Epiphany" will have you floored. In almost an orchestral nature, Randy and Dean build lush scenes of dialogue between Concentration Camp's vocals, and No Age's unique approach to whatever is placed in front of them. On a scale from club cuts to intellectual jams this ranks along with Deakin (Animal Collective) remixing Ratatat - take that as you wish, just download the tune. For [...]

Honey Is Cool - Twinkle I'll be in Puerto Rico for the next week. Will and Chico are gonna hold this shit down, I'll see y'all soon. -John

Photography "Emergency Landing In Iceland No. 1" by Tsuru When it comes to geography, I'm woefully ignorant, like, extra super ignorant. Even here in the states, I've got a basic handle on the more obvious states, California's over there, Texas is down there, I was just in Arizona, it's kinda in between the other two, Florida (my homeland) is America's wang hanging low and lazy.... That's about it. International's worse, well except for Canada & Mexico, I've pretty much got them located in my mind, but it starts to get hazy [...]

Andrew Shapiro - "Detectors in the Eyes". The song's sound at first seems dated, dyed in the pastel shades of late-90s trance. But within moments the cascade's everywhere - these ringing bells, these glowing synths, like a room filled with butterfly wings. Much more The Knife than Paul Oakenfold, Shapiro's made a proper song - beautiful as get-out, like Douglas Coupland's "slot machines clanging out silver dollars, rubies, and sugar candies". A clarion of kisses. [buy] Honey Is Cool - "Something About the Mountains". And here, meanwhile, is The Knife's Karin Dreijer Andersson from the days before she was in [...]

She's currently one half of the chilly Scandinavian duo The Knife , but Karin Dreijer has put in her time on the Swedish indie-rock circuit. Honey is Cool, the band she led in the 1990s, specialized in spiky indie-pop with her yowly vocals leading the way. Their full-length Crazy Love , which came out in 1997 and is now, sadly, out of print, contains the two nuggets linked below: the disjointedly danceable "Drums and Boys" and "Buildings," which reaches arena-like levels of grandiosity. Honey Is Cool - Drums and Boys [...]
