2012: The year that the world was supposed to end, or so the Mayans said. 2012 has been a whirlwind of a year. However, when I look back at it, it wasn’t that much of a whirlwind. It seems like a big blur, the longest stretch of a year. Granted, we did get an extra day with it being leap year and all. In 2012, I visited friends and family in some cities that I’ve never been to before, I went to a fair amount of awesome shows, and I spent quality time with loved ones-though not enough quality time. Jhameel - Shadow of a Man Jhameel’s a fascinating young artist who has quite a story. After accepting an Army Scholarship to UC Berkeley, his studies of the Arabic language and culture led to leaving the program and an artistic awakening that’s producing some seriously interesting pop-orchestral tracks that have made waves across genres. He’s a crockpot of contradiction that boils up into beauty; masculine and feminine, Western/Arabic cultural experience, and a Minnesota upbringing with Korean/Japanese/Mongolian ethnicity. He’s now worked with Hoodie Allen , covered T-Pain and the Bee Gees [...]

Now, we've never spent much time listening to Hoodie Allen . Surely we've unknowingly jammed to a track or two while shoulder-to-shoulder with fellow sweaty party-goers amongst the smoke and lasers. Yet for some reason this one is just doing it for us. Maybe it's Keljet in the mix, adding some serious spark to the beat. Or maybe we're suddenly suckers for urban white dude rappers with mad flow (Beiber's Boyfriend anyone? Dada Life remix of course). Whatever it is, we're digging the combo of Keljet's indiedisco touch along with Hoodie's almost-cheesy-but-oh-so-catchy lyrics. Go ahead, [...]

Hoodie got the remix treatment. Check it out...

After being featured in Hoodie Allen’s recent hit, “Ho Faith in Brooklyn” Jhameel releases the video for his smooth as hell single, “White Lie”. Really digging this track from New York's Hoodie Allen No Faith In Brooklyn . It's probably the poppy chorus vocals from Jhameel, maybe it's the mention of purchasing sushi in the opening line It's a pretty sweet track either way. Second verse breakdown is mad as too. He's playing five days from now at Furman U with Tinie Tempah (awesome) as part of his All American Tour . Get on board - if you want the download comment/email me. Everything about this visual and song is so on point, especially the Jhameel feature. It's one thing to see big name people collaborate, it's expected. But I think its really special when two indie/underground artist link up. If you didn't know, All American is on iTunes (still in the Top 10 albums) and only $4.99. Or you can stream it for free on indieshuffle.com . The album has been garnering a lot of positive review and debuted #1 on iTunes; all very respectable accomplishments especially considering that its still a completely independent recording.
