Before he embarks on a 28 city tour , the always-hard-working Hoodie Allen first made sure to drop his new 11-track album Crew Cuts . I say this every time Hoodie releases a new project, but it's clear that he's been working hard on polishing his sound, diversifying his style (even adding some doo-whop influences in), and improving on his craft. This time around, the former Googler lines up quite a few of his big-name friends ( Chiddy Bang , Chance The Rapper , [...]

Spring break came and went, and now I suppose I'm a little bit behind on a bunch of the new music that came out over the past week. A few days ago, former Googler-turned-rapper Hoodie Allen made his official debut with All American , an 8 song retail EP composed entirely of original production - a first for the young artist. With each release, Hoodie has been improving by leaps and bounds, and All American is clearly no exception. Give it a listen below, and if you like what you hear, support [...]

This is a big week for New York rapper Hoodie Allen . After months of giving us free music and videos, Allen released his first retail EP All American . This EP features 8 new tracks, one of which, "No Interruption" we heard last week with a video. This week we get to stream the whole EP and buy it if you like, because Hoodie has been giving us free music for so long, it's about time we show some love back. Also, the track "No Faith in Brooklyn" featuring another favorite of ours, [...]

I haven't heard from Hoodie Allen in a while, so it was to my surprise that I came across a new email from him today. And Hoodie was full of surprises: since the end of summer, he has been hard at work creating his first ever retail record, a brand new EP titled All American that will appear for sale on iTunes. All American will also be completely original with no samples appearing on the record, a huge change in style for a rapper that blew up the blogosphere with his catchy [...]

Tweet Often derided, whiteboyrappaz never really get a fair shake, and when I say whiteboyrappaz I don't mean Eminiem and Atmosphere, I mean dudes like Hoodie Allen who's actually brimming with talent and creativity but because he doesn't rap about guns, bitches, and bling then he's passed over. That kinda thing happens with ALL types of music which is why we as music bloggers and site owners play a good part as a middleman to get some of these lesser-known acts what [...]

Oh hai, ZAK! I think Leisha's bit of white boy rap continues on; I present to you, ZAK! Downtown. Repping the East Coast scene hard with a serious New York swag, ZAK! may be a Manhattanite white boy but he's got some pull to his music. Homie sent us an email because he just got off a mini-tour with the previously blogged about, Hoodie Allen . I would love to see this, they both capture a side of hip hop that's something you could put on at a party and everyone bobs their head to. Our boy [...]

Leisha's edition of white boy rap CONTINUES! Our boy Hoodie Allen has been featured on the site a few times so I'll save it, BUT he did put out a new video for his track "You Are Not A Robot". I'm going to refrain from the genre term "hip pop" because it pisses me the fuck off, but he does sample Marina and the Diamonds, which is kind of awesome. Plus he threw in a little dubstep to garnish. Something you gotta love about a white boy who used to work at Google who now is [...]
This post is a "QuickPick". QuickPicks are my attempt at getting all of the music that's sent to me that I like (or just music I like but have no words for because it's so awesome), out into the dubya dots. Any time I get sent music that I like I "star" it in Gmail and then go back and listen to it a day later. If it's still as good as it was a day before then it goes up on the site, but sometimes I get backlogged and can't get through writing [...]
Okay, already blogged to death, but you can't deny the awesomeness of Hoodie's new mixtape, 'Pep Rally'. He showcases a perfect blend of hip hop/indie. His raps are quick and the lyrics often just seem to resemble a list of pop culture references (although not quite as randomly as I've made it sound). There's a great bunch of samples thrown in the mix (The Black Keys, Cold War and especially Flight Facilities). The whole album flows very smoothly, is full of energy AND you can get the whole thing for free here . There's such a great [...]
