I'm going to be completely honest. If yesterday you told me I was going to post an original, un-remixed or mashed up tune from Jackie Chain & Freddie Gibbs in the non-hood section of WFGC I would have said you were crazy. We've come a long way. My only beef is there isn't enough Maggie Horn.

yU - Can't Hide (feat. EyeQ) Today, enjoy the non-album bonus cut from yU "Can't Hide" (ft. EyeQ) produced by Slimkat78. Paper Plane Project's sound is all about that old-school Sunday afternoon party in the park, bringing soulful beats and vibes back into the realm of hip-hop and beyond...EP by Australian production duo Paper Plane Project. A blend of soulful hip hop, low-slung beats, future funk, boogie and Latin rhythms, it features vocals from LA artists J. Mitchell (Common, Exile) and MC Raashan Ahmad (Crown City Rockers), as well live horns and verses from local Sydney group True Vibenation. Following up from their acclaimed debut LP 'Pacific Connection (2011)', this new release shows an evolution in the Paper Plane Project sound [...]

Southern romantic via Savannah, Dare Dukes has returned with the debut single from his forthcoming fan-funded, early 2012 full length, 'Thugs and China Dolls'. 'Lets be reckless, just the two of us' is one of the reverberating lines from 'Meet You at the Bus' a hopeful tale of youthful escapism that follows two young lovers about to make a great leap out of their probable toxic enviroment to an unknown, yet promising destination. While the story unfolds, a slow-picked banjo cuts to the core, and a melancholic horn slowly swells offering a sense of hope for these two [...]
Horns are cool again and I'm very stoked on that. You've got Kenny G making an appearance with Foster The People on SNL a few weeks ago, St. Lucia whipping out the brass during their CMJ shows and now, to solidify the movement, a killer sax solo on M832s phenomenal Fallon performance of "Midnight City" last night. Long live the horn. M83 recently made a stop in DC to play the Black Cat, check out our review .

Today I'd like to introduce you to Thick Chick, a two piece producer / DJ duo that is also from Boulder, Colorado. Well this duo made up of Hunter and Tucker has really been putting in some work the past 2 years and now has some really legit production. The first track I'm going to be sharing of theris is an electro house track called Fleck. It's got some insanely catchy upbeat horns throughout really propelling the track with a funky happy vibe. The bass isn't too vicous, but enough to get the party raging. Turn up the bass, enjoy! [...]

The bomber jacket has a classic silhouette that we've always loved. Problem is, most bomber jackets don't provide enough warmth to combat the reliably harsh winters we experience in Canada every year. Always the adept problem solvers, Wings + Horns have teamed up with UK specialty label Heritage Research to produce a waxed cotton bomber that's up to the task. Heritage Research did a really great job adding subtle military details to compliment Wings + Horns beautifully simplified utilitarian look. Click the jump to see more images. As we mentioned back in August , we couldn't wait to dig into Beirut's fresh album titled The Rip Tide . Beirut has the full brass section, vocals from lead vocalist and founder of the band Zachary Francis Condon and an overall orchestrated sound unlike any other band out there today. This week's Song of the Week is inspired by Zach's hometown, Santa Fe. Need we say it again? This song will most definitely be in our top 100 songs for this year. Check out the rest of Beirut's The Rip [...]
Fuckin' A right! MetalSucks is proudly teaming up with Guitar World and Hails & Horns to bring you Obscura's first ever North American headlining tour!!! There's a group of people going around the block, playing horns, and holding up a sign that says "Puppy Hugz". It sounds nice. There's a big cat. That's about it.

One of our favourite things about the start of Fall/Winter in Toronto is stocking up on Wings + Horns basics. They're impeccably made, easy to wear and functional; all while keeping comfortable. Two of our favourite basics from Wings + Horns Archive are their trademark large loop terry fleece and their waffle thermals. For a new concept from the brand, Wings + Horns has combined the two tops into one reversible crewneck sweater. We're confident this will keep you warm and satisfied all winter. Multiple colourways available at Nomad .
For me, Beirut's new album is a small step back from the Flying Club Cup and the March of the Zapotec EP that preceded it. I was sure all this waiting would result in something bigger and better, but the ambition needed for that doesn't surface on the Rip Tide. It just seems like business as usual. Maybe this would have been acceptable as a release between Gulag and Flying , but the arrangements and foreign flavors of Beirut have held much more water on previous releases, and enhanced the Beirut experience. Perhaps you recall TJ Richards' last band Calves/Boy with the Ice Cream Face ? Well, Richards has teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Yuchen Lin for a new project called Trabajo . The duo have been posting tracks to their bandcamp and are presently working on an EP for KimDawn . Here is a noisy little track that features pedals, vocal, drums, sampler, key synth, and chinese flute. Listen. Downloadable: Two Horns (mp3) Hopefully, Trabajo will play show show in or around the NYC area in the not-too-distant future. [...]

MP3 Siskiyou is a Canadian quartet that's readying to drop a second album via Constellation Records . The band's approach to folk and folk rock has always been an experimental one, but this album sounds like it'll be sporting a much bolder sound. On "Twigs and Stones," Colin Huebert's vocals sound much more fragile and vulnerable, reminding me a bit of Spencer Krug's voice , actually. Some joyous horn arrangements provided by Colin Stetson subtly introduce themselves and explode with the rest of the instrumentation perfectly. His fluttering sax runs [...]
