'The Devil Inside' Audience Reactions (Video) The new supernatural thriller ' The Devil Inside ' premieres this Friday and it looks like it may just be hit! A special screening of the film was held in a church in Pasadena and from the looks of the audience reactions this film is scary… really scary. The same technique was used with the ' Paranormal Activity ' films in which the studio released trailers of audience reactions along with scenes of the actual film. The film is about a [...]

Contagion Trailer

CONTAGION TRAILER
Jesus, this looks frightening. One of the things that has been so depressing about horror movies of late is that they are so divorced from contemporary life. They don't touch upon the inherent fears of modern society. Looks like director Steven Soderbergh has managed to make a movie that does tap into the collective fear of germs and widespread infectious disease outbreaks. Instead of blood and gore, Soderbergh is taking the finger nails on a chalkboard approach. September 9th in theaters. Starring Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Marion Cotillard, Lawrence Fishbourne, [...]

The Thing Prequel is Happening

Speaking of teaser posters , Devin Faraci got his hands on a teaser poster for the remake/prequel of Carpenter's The Thing. Why it's being called The Thing when it's supposed to technically be a prequel is beyond me, but that seems to be the case. It comes out in October. Interestingly, the URL on the bottom of the poster just redirects back to the Universal Pictures homepage. The question is why make a prequel and call it the same thing as Carpenter's masterpiece? That's just fucking stupid. Tweet

News retroCRUSH recently conducted an interview with rocker-turned-director Rob Zombie.

Old and Jaded: There Are Horror Movies That Start This Way

Old and Jaded: There Are Horror Movies That Start This Way Last week I dropped the knowledge egg and told you that I was going to see Captain Ahab . I was jazzed, as I have been a fan of these guys since around 2002 or 2003. We get to the Sons of Hermann Hall, a dandy of a venue on the outskirts of Deep Ellum. Jonny and I had seen The Paper Chase there a few years prior and that rainy night ended with two car accidents, a deployed airbag, and a doozy of a hangover the [...]

Robert Pattinson: 'Breaking Dawn' is a Horror Movie'

Robert Pattinson: 'Breaking Dawn' is a Horror Movie' Does " Twilight " star, Robert Pattinson , want the final two films in the saga to have an R-rating ? Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about ' Breaking Dawn ' - the upcoming two-part finale to 'Twilight' - Robert Pattinson said, "I just can't see how it's going to be PG-13 ... unless they cut everything out." 'Breaking Dawn' doesn't exactly sound like kids-type fare - we're about to see beds obliterated during passionate nights, a young girl go through nine months of pregnancy in [...]

A Truth Pill

A Truth Pill "I like to say that box-office matters as little to me as the Oscars do, but the truth is that box-office does matter. When the audience consistently rewards garbage, and when the marketing is more important than the movie, and when week after week, we see good films sink and crap rewarded, it does matter. Because the corporations that run the studios aren't in it for art. They don't care about revolutionizing the face of horror. They don't care about Lovecraft's legacy, or the history of Universal horror, or Guillermo's best creative years. They [...]

Apollo 18 Trailer

The main problem with movies that are constructed under the "found footage" premise is that they ask viewers to suspend their disbelief and accept that what they are watching is "true" even when that is categorically impossible to do after a decade of "found footage" movies. It may have been a neat gimmick when The Blair Witch Project came out, but how many times can filmmakers dip into this well and expect to find water? Officially, Apollo 17, launched December 17th, 1972, was the last manned mission to the moon. But a year later, [...]

Red State Teaser Trailer

Kevin Smith's new flick is yes, a horror movie. And it looks good! Inspired by Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church, there's nary a dick or fart joke or reference to the Silent Bob universe in this "horror film in which a group of misfits encounter fundamentalism gone to the extreme in Middle America." The low production values shouldn't be so much of a surprise, given that Smith has always shot his movies to be both inexpensive and slightly amateurish looking. And yet, this thing looks frightening. Maybe it's the religious nature of the movie [...]

Scream 4 Trailer

The first Scream was pretty dang great, and if the profiteers hadn't forced the movie to be a franchise, the Wes Craven original would have to be regarded as one of the pinnacles of the genre. Alas, that wasn't the case, and it's difficult to separate out the original's brilliance from the other entries into the franchise. Now, here comes the fourth movie, with most of the original cast, and supporting turns from Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, that chick who always tries to save the dolphins, etc. [...]

They Remade "I Spit on Your Grave"?

What is this world coming to? Anchor Bay really should understand that nobody was clamoring for a remake of the 1978 rape and revenge cult-flick , which has been remembered for it's horrific depiction of gang rape. The original was either censored and released or altogether banned. Again, what's the point of this remake? To make money? [ via ]

Sofia Talvik's Xmas Calendar: #14

Silent Night, Deadly Night
I once tried to bribe Fredrik Strage in the breakfast room at TV4. He was going to talk about new hip music, and I was going to play live at the TV4 Morning show where Fredrik is a profile every now and then. Apparently Fredrik wasn't that easy to bribe that time, but he did want to be a guest in my Xmas Calendar when I asked him nicely. If you're easily scared, this is not an episode for you. Fredrik shows us his favourite scenes from Christmas horror movies, and he seems to have an [...]
