With my newly acquired iPhone it seems that it will be easier to blog on the go. I read an article recently saying that blogging is dead. Let's test that theory shall we? Here's a new video from Hospital Ships for their song 'Galaxies'. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =AOwn842xp68&feature=youtube_g data_player

[ download ] [tweetmeme] One of the most time-honored words that rock music has given the English language is the adjective "Beatlesque" – a word that surprisingly still triggers spell-check. One would think that the word would be in official dictionaries now. It's a very useful term that contains its own definition right there in it. It denotes something – generally a song, but sometimes just a sound or general artistic aesthetic - that resembles The Beatles. "Love Or Death," by Lawrence, Kansas' Hospital Ships [...]
Jordan Geiger was once a member of Shearwater, but he now spends his days recording as Hospital Ships. His latest LP, Lonely Twin, is a doozy. Eccentric, charming and haunting, the full length runs the emotional gamut while evoking various glam and psychedelic influences. Opener "Love or Death" is bursting with energy, led by Geiger's [...]

Hospital Ships' Jordan Geiger comes into his own on latest LP. Jordan Geiger, the frontman and brainchild of the Kansas project Hospital Ships, has got the melancholy and desperation of Conor Oberst and the voice of Ben Gibbard (which goes to show you just how melancholy and desperate Conor Oberst is when I didn't even use Ben Gibbard as the full example). On Oh, Ramona, Hospital Ships' debut album two and a half years ago, Geiger manifested a primarily acoustic LP in the vein of the...

Here's another one on heavy rotation lately. Kansas' Hospital Ships with their track "Love Or Death" featured on Lonely Twin , released this month. You might recognize Jordan Geiger's talent from his previous works with Shearwater, the Appleseed Cast, and the Minus Story. MP3: Hospital Ships - Love Or Death

Black Lips, Cults, Fucked Up, Tom Vek, Battles, Arctic Monkeys and Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr headline the week, but it goes deeper than that as well. New releases from The Rosebuds, Frank Turner, Givers, The Postelles, Sondre Lerche, Peter Murphy, Oneida, City and Colour all make it a pretty deep week for ear spins. Have at it. Þá er komið að því að taka stöðuna á tónlistarmenningunni handan hafsins mikla. Þar er alltaf eitthvað forvitnilegt að finna í jaðrinum sem ratar ekki oft til eyrna tónlistarunnenda hérlendis og því um að gera að birta það lesendum Rjómans hér. Þetta er að sjálfsögðu allt saman eðal stöff sem allir ættu að geta unað vel við. Hospital Ships - Love or Death Tekið af plötunni Lonely Ships . It's summer time and the living is about to get easier with the quiet porch and soda pop sounds of Hospital Ship's new album, Lonely Twin. Reminding me of a Death Cab For Cutie mixed with sugary sweetness and heavy electronic tinkering's, the albums an easy listen for wash-out, indie-pop fans. Their sound is comfy and dream-like, as if you were watching old home-videos through an antique projector. The album begins catchy with "Love or Death" and "Honey Please" but quickly enters a more atmospherical smoothness with "Birds in Furs" and "Galaxies" laced with the lovely coo's of [...]
Yesterday we got word of this new project called The Nighty Nite formed by John Congleton and Jason Garner of the Paper Chase along with members of Shearwater, Wires Under Tension, and The Hospital Ships. Coming from a short recording session, the new group produced four songs for an EP entitled Dimples due out June 21st via Graveface Records . You'll obviously hear the heavy influence of The Paper Chase in these tunes with that familiar indie horror music style that we've grown to love. Glad to hear these guys are continuing to create enjoyable tunes. [...]

It's time to listen to a bunch of the tracks I have not posted recently. Here is the next NOT POSTED mix. These are just a few of the songs that would get there own individual posts on here on GIMME TINNITUS, if I only had the time. You can stream all the songs in this mix using the Yahoo media player at the bottom of the page OR if you are browsing with Chrome you can play (and scrobble ) the whole page using the ex.fm extension OR [...]

Hospital Ships is the creative outlet for musician Jordan Geiger, a Lawrence, Kansas native with an impressive resume. He's done time in bands such as The Appleseed Cast, Shearwater, and Minus Story. Geiger's tenor and affinity for well-adorned fuzz-pop richness recalls a certain other band from the Midwest, The Flaming Lips. The difference is that Geiger's output doesn't rival the ecstatic bombast of the Lips. His more minimalistic tracks are some of the most affecting on his new album Lonely Ships . The pared-down acoustic finger-picking and subtle nuance of "Phantom Limb" provide a fitting backdrop for Geiger's disarming [...]
