We've gone over the biggest artists, albums, and tracks of 2012, but our end of the year roundup really wouldn't be complete unless we talked about our own favorites from this year. These are the songs that made us feel, gave us chills, made us party, and made us cry. You'd probably find these tracks with high play counts in our music libraries and dripping with nostalgia if you make us talk about them further. Amanda [...]

"It’s a jerky, dark, and layered record, complete with the kind of adept musical craftsmanship the London band first built its name on. On Four , Bloc Party learns the valuable lesson that sometimes the only way to move forward is to go back where you came from. And like a musical game of Jenga, the band rips out the pieces and starts again with equal parts precision, raw force, heart, and intellect." Above is a muddied amalgam of the artwork to each of our freshly completed Tracks of 2012 rundown , dubiously fangled on a newly acquired and equally dodgy copy of Photoshop, and below is our ongoing attempt to grapple with the finer intricacies of musical technologies. It's the first, and could well be the last Spotify playlist I ever so painstakingly compile, and it features our every entry (or rather the 28 that, at the time of writing, were hooked up to their mainframe, or whatever the correct technical term would be for that). That our topspot is in [...]

Another Monday and to commemorate the crushing mundanity the day embodies with a most despairing inherence, we're back here divulging a further ten tracks from our 2012 ranking. Our previous instalment took in a Fuck Button, the irrefutably inimitable Bobby Womack, and a lo-res JPG of a cat in a box . This one, meanwhile, clicks through a smattering of woebegone London lo-fi, a couple snared from the Captured Tracks roster, the inevitable Hot Chip entry, and something ever so slightly special from Sam Willis who was once, all in all, just another [...]
Sasha is with out a doubt one of the undisputed champs of EDM. Whether you think his live sets are amazing or that his orginal music and remixes get you in the groove, the man definitely has paved a distinguished career in the scene. Having watched the scene grow since the mid-80s, Sasha just simply knows what he is doing when it comes [...]

It seems as though there has been some sort of competition on lately, to see who can create the best remix of HOT CHIP , with JAMES ZABIELA , FOUR TET , TODD TERJE , MICKEY MOONLIGHT and now SASHA , all having a go at creating their own version of various tracks from the band's latest album 'In Our Heads'. Having thought about it, HOT CHIP are the perfect band that an experienced, non-commercialised house producer would want to remix. They're a familiar band [...]
With his latest remix Sasha shows yet again why he is considered one of the all time greats of electronic music. With a series of complex series builds and breaks, Sasha's rework is nothing short of a eight minute musical journey. His relaxed deep house melodic groove provides the perfect backing to Hot Chip's signature vocals. Hit play only if you have the next few hours free as you be playing this on repeat for the duration. So if you think the original is good, Wales born Sasha's hyper melodic remix of Hot Chip's 'Flutes' puts any other version to shame and also marks the sixth release on his Last Night On Earth label. Sasha is known for creating a seamless musical journey during his sets, and this track has been a staple for the past few months. Any loyal followers will immediately have recognized the rare vocals present in a Sasha set, but the remix fits well into the journey that Sasha weaves. If you're in NYC, you would be remiss to not attend [...]

Even though this is just a preview, Sasha's remix for Hot Chip's track 'Flutes' is swoon worthy. The full version will be released Sept. 24 on Sasha's own imprint Last Night On Earth . This track will certainly make you dance as if it's your last few moments in the earthly realm, that's for sure. If you were at EZF over the weekend you likely heard this track from your staked spot in the Sunday School Grove, as Sasha wowed everyone with his next level melodies and diverse choice of dance music. HOT CHIP "HOW DO YOU DO" I just found the new Hot Chip video for their song, "How Do You Do," which you can find on their album, In Our Heads . It was released last month via [...]

A resolutely good band with some irrefutably great songs, Hot Chip are an infinitely intriguing proposition. Prince nuts-cum-penmen of princely chart hits (see Over and Over, and Boy from School, and Ready for the Floor, and One Life Stand, and, latterly, Night and Day for indomitable proof) the only criticism one may feasibly level at the souf London outfit is that they've perhaps become too circumspect in their numbingly comfortable, cushioned quirk.pop outcrop. How, therefore, does fifth full-length In Our Heads weigh in? Well, Alexis Taylor et [...]
Watch below for two new Hot Chip songs, "How Do You Do" and "Don't Deny Your Heart" , debuted live on Jools Holland . The UK's Hot Chip return to Later... With Jools Holland and tease us with two more tracks off their upcoming fifth album "In Our Heads" due for release June 12th via Domino Records , following up 20102s ever-popular "One Life Stand" . We've already had a few tastes of the new LP: we've seen the video [...]

Following on from the jubilant throbs and falsettos of Flutes , the reconvened Hot Chip are again on hand to proffer an insight into forthcoming fifth full-length In Our Heads (expected June 11th via Domino ). Lead single Night and Day sees the five-piece return to firmer, more well-trodden ground, its freak-fi disco leanings propped up by an infectious frenzy redolent of Basement Jaxx' Rooty . It also documents a return to the steel pans that sumptuously punctuated One Life Stand . Taylor's at the forefront, duetting with all manner of contorted [...]

I encourage you all to start your week off right with a sexy new single from Hot Chip. My favourite memory of Hot Chip was watching them at Coachella 2010, an older couple standing near me clearly wasn't diggin', and said they were just "electronic disco," which made me wonder what acoustic disco sounds like... Their new track Flutes is an infectious booty shaker, and it's going to be on their new album "In Our Heads" which comes out in June on Domino Records . Hot Chip is hitting The Commodore on September 15th [...]

Hot Chip Now Playing – twice every week, a roundtable of our writers will give their views on some of the recently-released new tracks. It’s as simple as that! Hot Chip released a dizzying teaser video for their new single "Flutes" last week and the official version of the song, which was recently uploaded to Soundcloud, is available to stream below. "Flutes" has a darker feel than the group's previous material, but the lyrics are actually pretty uplifting, and the overall style of the track is still very much uniquely Hot Chip. "Flutes" is the first single from Hot Chip's forthcoming album In Our Heads , which is out June 11th.
