With his new EP, Laid Out , dropping in two weeks, Shlohmo has shared one of the more anticipated cuts on the project. It's "Don't Say No", a collaboration with like-minded singer-producer How to Dress Well. Their aesthetics blend beautifully here amid snapping hi-hats and snares, layers of reverb, and, of course, flooring synthesizers. Can you think of better music to wake up to than Shlohmo's? One of my personal favorite songs of last year (not just because of the ampersand, &gang) received a proper remix treatment today. Elite Gymnastics put a little extra pep into the track and took the sultry number to the late night lounge. I love Elite Gymnastics , I love How to Dress Well's & it was u , I love this remix. Seriously, you should all hear it - 'happy but awkward cool' is the best I can do to summarise it. But it's literally the last minute of this that really gets me - everything's completely slowed down and I feel as though it should go on forever, that music should be on a constant loop in my head to soundtrack my whole life. Not only does Blackbird Blackbird continue to pump out remixes, but he has an incredible knack for picking some of our favorite tunes. With How To Dress Well 's Total Loss already well in rotation, it's nice to hear an alternative perspective of this infectious little R&B jam. Playing with the pitches and the tempo, Mikey turns "& It Was U" into a slow-dripping soundscape. The emotion is left intact, though, as this remix still bleeds of a lonely heart.
