We must have been in a hurry to put up our last post on this subject because we missed a whole bunch of holiday stinkers. Here is the rest of our list of the best of the worst Christmas songs of all-time: "Last Christmas" by Wham Released in 1984, shortly after we were introduced to George Michael and his white short shorts. "The Chipmunk Song" by Alvin and the Chipmunks [...]

Hundreds of artists from Slim Whitman to the cast of GLEE have gotten behind the mic to record yuletide classics. While I like the majority of holiday tunes, there are a few that I just cannot stomach. Here are the worst of all-time: 1. Grandma Got Run Over by A Reindeer - Elmo & Patsy Like a needle in your eye. Someone kill me now if I have to hear this tune one more time. 2. Santa Baby [...]
The title track off of Howling Bells third effort, The Loudest Engine , showcases vocalist Juanita Stein's sweet vocals (and by sweet I mean awesome, not sweet sounding) and a bit of a desert rock vibe. It's not un-like a less hazy, slightly more focused Humbug . The track is made for fall nights with cool air and less than respectable intentions. You can pre-order the album via Cooking Vinyl . Before launching into this review, let me clear up a common misconception surrounding Arctic Monkeys that appears to feature predominantly in a vast majority of misinformed and poorly researched articles. Arctic Monkeys were not a product of the embarrassingly titled 'myspace revolution', in fact, the now infamous website previously used to distribute free downloads of their early demos, was in no way related to the Sheffield four piece. The only method the group adopted to promote their music was via handing out home-made CD's, now affectionately known as 'Beneath the Boardwalk'. So with my mind at rest on that subject, [...]

Tweet The first single from Arctic Monkeys ' fourth album "Suck It And See", "Brick By Brick" states the creative thesis of the album right there in the title. This is an attempt to break down the raucously cultivated style of the band's last three albums and rebuild again. They shouldn't have worried so much. Frontman Alex Turner is a gifted songwriter and lyricist, who uses humor deftly with wisdom beyond his years, but there's still something not quite complete, a few pieces [...]

With Humbug, their previous full length release, being received to mixed reviews, trust Arctic Monkeys to return with another opinion splitting single. Few bands arrived with the same gusto as the Sheffield four piece, achieving a record breaking debut album, as well as headlining numerous festivals including Glastonbury and T in the Park. So it was all the more bizarre and intriguing when Alex Turner & Co re-invented their sound on Humbug, adopting a classic rock approach, which at times fell spectacularly flat on it's face. Comeback track Brick By Brick was underwhelming and over-repetitive, leaving me with [...]
You can now stream the Arctic Monkeys record, Suck It and See . Besides, the awful title, the album sounds light years better than Humbug so far. Have a listen here courtesy of Domino Record Co.

Tweet It's late here on the east coast of the U.S., but early morning in the U.K., and so the Arctics were kind enough to post their entire new album for us listen to for free, an entire week before its release date on Domino Records, you know, 'cos they're all awake and combing their hair stuff. Just based on the singles and songs I've heard it's sure to garner mixed reviews and feelings, but chances are if [...]

Tweet Well this is throwing me for a loop. The first song from the Monkeys'.....wait, you can't shorten them to the Monkeys....The first song from the Arctic 's latest album "Suck It And See" was "Brick By Brick" , a shady number with a Rock Band-style guitar solo that didn't really sound like the band's previous efforts, and then we had "Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair" , a far heavier tune that, this time, had an Arctics feel [...]

Well, here we go. This is the track that all of the blogging world will be talking about today. Arctic Monkeys have released a new song called "Don't Sit Down, Cause I Moved Your Chair". I feel as it's a bit of a continuation off of the Humbug Era, but it's a bit more user-friendly. This song could sound massive in a live setting. Besides a couple of the lyrics being dreadful, this is definitely keeping me excited for Suck It And See . [...]

Long gone are the days of MySpace breaking bands and having a lasting effect on the music industry. Instead we're left with glitter graphics, 5 minute-page loading times and the exact opposite an intuitive user interface. However one might argue that with MySpace we'd never have had Arctic Monkeys , and with that we might never have had some of the tightest and most rollicking Indie-Rock anthems of the last six years or so. Granted, they have had a fair few shockers but I'd say it's a good 70-30 ratio for good and bad. The [...]

Arctic Monkeys have posted a new song and video to their YouTube Channel , the groovy and riff-driven "Brick by Brick". The video interplays a record player with the actual making of a record. James Ford is reportedly working with the band in Los Angeles on their follow-up to 20092s Humbug . -
Well, the Arctic Monkeys surprised everyone in the music world a couple of days ago, when out of nowhere they release a video for a new song called, "Brick by Brick". Maybe after seeing how much success Radiohead had with their surprise announcement, the Monkeys thought they shoul have a go. The sound seems to be a progression from Humbug and continues in the pysch rock realm of that record. While I did enjoy Humbug , and credit the band for trying something different, I really do miss the Whatever People Say I Am, [...]

Sleepy Suns played the House of Blues Las Vegas on Friday night (April 16). The San Francisco band opened for headliners the Arctic Monkeys who are touring in support of their latest album, ' Humbug '. The Sleepy Suns played material from both their debut album, ' Embrace ', released last year as well as their forthcoming album, ' Fever ', due out in June. As for the Arctic Monkeys , the band played tracks that spanned all three of their albums. [...]

With their North American tour set to kick off tomorrow, the Arctic Monkeys have revealed plans to begin work on a new album following the jaunt. The band recently dropped by NME Radio and announced plans to begin work on the follow-up to 2009's ' Humbug ' later this year. "We've said we'll stop touring this album and we're eager to start working on new stuff again, not have time off again," revealed drummer Matt Helders . Frontman Alex Turner also revealed that he has already begun [...]
