At this point in the year, engagements and obligations multiply like two rabbits with spring fever and a box of Trojans (the big box - with like 50 of those fuckers in there. The one you're a tad embarrassed, yet totally stoked to buy due to the implications). Luckily, there's four dudes up in Michigan putting out some chill tunes that can really soothe this massive cotton-tailed orgy of to-do-listness. I had previously written a short piece on Dog & Panther's short, but meaningful Love Make - complete with it's own [...]
Earlier this year, we tied up with IIT Chennai to launch their annual rock competition, Decibels. The competition was announced earlier this year and bands were invited to send their demos until December 5. Out of all the bands that applied, we chose a list of 31 bands who went on to the next round. This list would then be put out to a public vote and a final list of 15 bands would be released, with the vote counting for 50% of the result and the judges choice counting for 50% of the result. [...]

The Bindass Restless Band Hunt finals took place at The Bflat Bar last night (Thursday, December 13) as four bands battled it out to win a chance to play at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Bangalore . In a keenly contested battle-of-the-bands, pop rock band Clown With A Frown triumphed over their rivals Hungry, The Scratch Cards and The Indus Valley Project. The competition was judged by co-founder of NH7, Shreyas Srinivasan and editor of NH7.in, Arjun S Ravi. Clown With A Frown will now open the Bindass Fully Fantastic Stage at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Bangalore and other three finalists will [...]

The Big Junction Jam Festival was held at the Palace Grounds in Bangalore on June 18-19. Billed as a “confluence of music, art and food”, the festival featured a massive number of upcoming acts along with a few familiar names like Swarathma , Kryptos , Evergreen (pictured) and Sulk Station . We were there. Disappointing turnout on both days - daily attendance averaged out to about 150 people. Unsurprisingly, the massive lineup proved to be unwieldy. Poor time management led to bands' sets being cut to [...]

Bangalore's Palace Grounds will host The Big Junction Jam Festival next weekend, on June 11-12. The event, billed as a "confluence of music, art and food" features a massive number of upcoming acts along with a few familiar names as headliners including Evergreen, Agam, Swarathma (pictured), Kryptos, Blakc and Sulk Station. As mentioned, apart from the musical aspect of the festival, food and art will also be showcased via their own set of events. The highlight of food festival is a demonstration of Headbanger's Kitchen , the cookery project of metal impresario Sahil 'Demonstealer' Makhija. Amongst the [...]
Ryan Adams - Drunk And Fucked Up (Like The Twilight) "Fuck," my stomach growled. I was hungry, the dime-store diners were shut - boarded windows and unkempt sidewalks, leaves crumpled along the cracks in the concrete - and the twilight's thick, hot air in my collar. I fumbled around in my pockets for loose change, only bus tickets and a stray button. "Fuck this," kicking angrily against the curb, stubbing my toe through the worn leather of my shoes. It should have changed. I was meant to be richer, cleaner, sophisticated. [...]

I told you we're hungry. What, you didn't believe me? Surely you believe me now, having defeated the reigning Super Bowl Champs in the most glorious, nail-biting, Seattle-like fashion. I've watched Marshawn Lynch's half-dozen-tackle-breaking-67- yard-run at least 10 times since Saturday, and you know what? It never gets old. But then, the greatest feats in sports history seldom do. But the game was bigger than Lynch, bigger than the best performance we've seen out of Hasselbeck in god knows how long (Do we have Charlie Whitehurst, coming off that playoff-clinching victory, breathing down his [...]
by ryan Being a Miami boy myself, it's really great to see some solid indie bands sprouting and finding success outside of the state. Lil Daggers are the latest to gain some buzz via the blogosphere popping up on NYCTaper, Rollo and Grady , and Poptarts Suck Toasted. The band just completed a Brooklyn swing which included shows at Glasslands and Don Pedros. Next up is their Kings Corpse 73 getting released in July so stay tuned for more from these upstarts in [...]

While: A) Watching the Ravens smack the Patriots B) Packing to head back to the Uni C) Hating the fact that school starts tomorrow D) Just being flat out lazy on Sunday, I came across this track by the homie J. Nolan (check the archives) and was feeling it this Sunday so I decided to post it up along with the latest mixtape he dropped. J. Nolan- Celebrate J. Nolan- Bridges Under Water (Mixtape)

Lil' Daggers take one of my favorite genres (garage rock) and make it even sexier than normal. The Miami-based band does this by adding in an organ absolutely dripping with reverb and even adding in bongos and Spanish vocals in a few of their songs. These two songs are perfect for a Saturday night with a 30-pack of PBR and a bunch of friends, which is what I hope 2010 is full of. MP3: Lil' Daggers- Hungry MP3: Lil' Daggers- King Korpze
