Most of us tend to appreciate different genres and @STFU_RECORDS have their fingers in the dnb , dubstep and breakbeat pies and with pretty much every release they all tick those boxes. On this latest windswept, drum and bass journey the collaborative works of Bill Vega & New Decade are in gale force on the track 'Hurricane' along with a twin of storming remixes. The original tracks from the label usually tend to be DnB with the utmost vibrancy and pizazz. This [...]

Nos encanta The Cure . [...]
![[LP] The Horrible Crowes – ELSIE (w/ "Behold The Hurricane" & "Black Betty & The Moon")](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3868910_lg.jpg)
silhouettes they haunt this house like a memory haunts me now as if it were a dream ♫ The Horrible Crowes - Behold the Hurricane Brian Fallon is the lead singer of New Jersey's awesome The Gaslight Anthem . Brian Fallon is also the lead singer of his mellowed out side project (with his guitar tech Ian Perkins). I'm really shocked at how little press this album got from all the same outlets that usually gush over Gaslight. Anyway, that's exactly why I'm so late to the game but you know I [...]

Ep. 502 - The Cordovas @ 3rd and Lindsley - Nashville, TN 11-8-11 Video Concert Reviews - The Cordovas The Cordovas show fell smack-dab in the middle of CMA Awards Week, but I'd be damned if I didn't show my run-ragged face at 3 rd & Lindsley for the final concert of the band's tour. We were first turned onto the group over the summer, before they were "The Cordovas " actually. While tirelessly editing videos during CMA Fest week, we watched an interview with [...]
It's just not fair that there's this much to do on a Monday: ► Yelle make up the Thursday show the French dance-pop trio postponed (they were delayed by visa problems) by holding forth at the Wiltern tonight. ► Races celebrate the release of their "Big Broom" EP tonight, playing the support slot for Chain Gang of 19742s residency at the Echo, The night kicks off with O.C.'s Polaris at Noon. ► Didn't think the first week of Vanaprasta's was explosive enough? (You're in the minority.) [...]
Hurricane Bells is less a band and more of the brain child of Steve Schiltz. The Longwave frontman created Hurricane Bells' ethereal sound in his basement on a laptop. Schiltz gained notoriety for appearing on the soundtrack for one of those well-known vampire romance movies, and his second Hurricane Bells album, Tides And Tales (Invisible Brigades), [...]
Much ado and much to do on the first Monday day of Shovember: ► L.A. quintet Vanaprasta , its debut album "Healthy Geometry" just out last week, kicks off its residency at the Satellite, with Rocco DeLuca , Future Ghost , Newchild and Beatnik Jr. supporting. ► Great lineup for the opening night of the Chain Gang of 19742s residency at the Echo — including the One AM Radio , new Dovecote Records signee Evan Voytas and Death Kit . ► Little Hurricane , [...]
The internet is too good today. First we found the SynthCats Tumblr, then Patrick Stickles' new Twitter, then this US Girls cover of "The Boy is Mine," and then, most importantly, this... Support indie media! Read the rest at thephoenix.com . . .

2AM club hit us up with some new, free freshness today. This one exhibits exactly why I love 2AM club. They are definitely different than most of what we usually jam to and post on the site. Some define them as a "pop" group, but it's impossible to really define what they do since its a mix of blues, pop, hip-hop and other genres. These tracks just scream for some epic remixes, and we should expect the likes of Xaphoon Jones, RAC, and others to give us a taste soon enough. Listen to this one and try [...]

Hurricane Bells Tides And Tales Invisible Brigades [2011] Fire Note Review: Another smooth delivery of indie tracks on the sophomore effort from Hurricane Bells. Album Review: Tides And Tales is the sophomore record from longtime singer/guitarist of Longwave, Steve Schiltz, and his current moniker Hurricane Bells. The record continues his indie journey over these 12 tracks that can [...]
Their song "Monsters" got them noticed off the Twilight: New Moon soundtrack, but it's doubtful their sophomore album will turn many heads. Steve Schiltz, the mastermind behind NYC project Hurricane Bells, apparently slaved over this recording, mentioning in a press release that he was "inspired by Jack White's rule of self-imposed limitations," so he worked to make every flare perfect. And on songs such as the most-likely singles "Possibilities" and "Let's Go," he shows off a little more firepower this second go-around, adding some hard-hitting electronica to the mix, but for the most part, Tides and Tales...
If any of you followed me over to Atomic Ned from my old site, Swizzle-Stick , you'll know that I was a big fan of both the Ultimate Fakebook and The Sheila Divine and, in fact, interviewed both bands numerous times. So how cool is this? The Ultimate Fakebook played a rare reunion show for Halloween and belted out a cover of The Sheila Divine's monster hit (to me anyway), "Hum". Enjoy!
Friday, October 28, 2011 Today's Quick Mention: The great Wild Flag roll into town tomorrow to play La Zona Rosa, and you absolutely have to be there. Doors at 8pm. Tickets are $15. Time to bring the week to a close. Enjoy. : Keep Shelly In Athens - DIY : I'm not ready to jump on the suddenly very crowded bandwagon for this act, but I am ready to at least inch my way over to it with the [...]
Hurricane Bells ' sophomore full-length, Tides and Tales , picks up right where 2010's Tonight Is The Ghost left off. They're still working the Killers-plus-encroaching-depre ssion aesthetic over jangly guitars and quirky sound effects. While there are fewer standout tracks here than on their debut, Tides and Tales makes for a solid listen. Kicking things off with an odd, distorted squeak, Hurricane Bells luckily only dabbles in noises, instead mostly relying on quiet vocals, simple percussion, and straightforward guitar work. "Before I'm Gone" is one of the best examples of this, [...]
To celebrate today's crop of releases, here are new mp3s from the Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble, Kathryn Calder, the Darcys, Deer Tick, Dntel, the Good Natured, Gringo Star, Hello Electric, Hurricane Bells, the Irrepressibles, Lyonnais, Mr. Gnome, Russian Circles, 65Daysofstatic and the Strange Boys. Also, vote for your favorite of today's new releases
This song gives me a good feeling somewhere in the vicinity of Byrds and Teenage Fanclub. Hurricane Bells' second album Tides and Tales is out this week. http://www.myspace.com/hurrica nebells

"But when the morning light comes, I'll be alright, oh yeah," frontman Steve Schiltz insists on "House on Fire", the last cut off Hurricane Bells ' latest LP, Tides and Tales . Over chummy distortion and a jangly drum beat, Schiltz adds his smooth vocals, keeping things fresh and positive. Like its chorus suggests, it's an early morning charmer, and one best suited for a light autumn stroll to work. Consequence of Sound has the exclusive download below, and if you enjoy that, it might be worth your while to pick up the rest of the [...]
