Interviews: Eugene Robinson (Oxbow, Blackface)

Interviews: Eugene Robinson (Oxbow, Blackface) Eugene S. Robinson knows how to kick ass. In fact, he's such an expert in breaking chumps down that he's written several books on the subject, including 2007's Fight: Everything you ever wanted to know about ass kicking but were afraid you'd get your ass kicked for asking. But, Robinson is far more than just a bruiser that can string together a sentence or two. Rather, he's also the frontman for the explosive, avant-garde punk band Oxbbow, was the editor in chief for EQ magazine, and even appeared in Bill Cosby's Leonard Part Six . [...]

Fake Handbags, Dime Bags, Rutabagas and Snoop Dogg

#WhenSnoopsInEurope: Ian Neale
A number of weeks ago, I was contacted by my friend Roderic, who plays in the Hydra Head band KNUT , for a quote about how different NYC is since 9/11 from an artist's point of view. He works for Swiss publication Le Courrier, and I thought it would be interesting to contribute to foreign language media. Here is the article for anyone curious. This past Friday, the issue came up again, but in a different way. I ran into good friend and local maniac Zenametal; curator of Zena Metal Wants to Conquer the [...]

Prurient – Bermuda Drain [Review]

Prurient – Bermuda Drain [Review] Whatever I was expecting when I started listening to Dominick Fernow's new record was completely shattered the moment the opening track, 'Many Jewels Surround The Crown', starts. The second you hear the bloodcurdling scream at the beginning, it becomes obvious this will be unlike anything you've ever heard. The second track is a masterpiece of chugging Industrial Techno, whilst the title track that follows is a sinister spoken word piece set against eerily threatening synthesizers and a soundscape that alludes to a particularly harrowing seventies art house film. The album reaches a threatening peak when Fernow proclaims a [...]

Cave In: "Sing My Loves"

Cave In: "Sing My Loves" Cave In has unveiled a new track. "Sing My Loves" is culled from the group's upcoming full-length White Silence , due out May 24, 2011 via Hydra Head Records . Check it out below.

Cave In- "Sing My Loves"

Cave In- "Sing My Loves" An 8-minute monster from the forthcoming Cave In album, White Silence. Some of the heaviest riffs I've heard in a few months. Clean vocals usually don't do it for me in a style like this, but it's just working for me this time around. Really looking forward to the album now. This will be the group's first album in about five years! It's looking at a May 24th release on Hydra Head Recs .
