Boston ensemble Slowdim immediately strike me as the sorts who could quite conceivably become the kind of cult band cherished by legions of steadfast alternative music acolytes worldwide, were they only afforded vertiginous enough a platform. Needless to say we can't provide that pedestal, but we can give 'em something of a slight leg up in the meanwhile as they continue to optimistically "paddle upstream." Whether headed for the mainstream or other, more boggy patches Up Stream is a positive tour de force in jingly indie jangle, Paul Sentz' lax delivery redolent of Lou Barlow's better bits from [...]
How many times have you found yourself thinking that very same thing this afternoon then, eh? Can you even count them on the one hand? If you're struggling to truck on into the weekend, then we've a rather apposite one to throw on and haul you through: the conjoining of the respective creative forces of Dinosaur Jr. main man J Mascis and the ever resplendent Sharon Van Etten , the collaboration is to my mind – and indeed my ears, as it just so transpires – something of a dream realised. In fact, I'd go so far as to [...]
With Another Girl, Another Planet racketing from speakers lingering overhead and Spinal Tap stacks spanning the stage, this evening is a most unmistakable indulging of our insatiable thirst for nostalgia. That stoner-rock stalwarts Dinosaur Jr. headline and do so beneath the clusterfuck intersection of Camden High Street, Parkway, Kentish Town Road and so on only shovels further impetus upon this overwhelming feel of retroaction and, heavy on slackened action, it makes for a fit snugger than most week-old t-shirts. It's unabashedly throwback, though then again so too are Dinosaur Jr.: despite their latest, and tenth full-length [...]
Dinosaur Jr. release video featuring Henry Rollins. Dinosaur Jr. have released a new video for "Pierce The Morning Rain" . The video was directed Emmy-winning comedy writer and director Scott Jacobson of Bob's Burgers, The Daily Show, and Saturday Night Live. The song appears on the band's most recent album, [...]
Ha! Check out the celebrity filled video for Pierce the Morning Rai n! Also, be sure to watch J Mascis on an upcoming episode of IFC's Portlandia, Friday, January 25th at 10pm ET.

Team b32s favorite crust merchants Dinosaur Jr. are hitting the road in the UK later this month. Along with the tour announcement, the band are releasing a further single from last year's very nice I Bet on Sky LP, "Don't Pretend You Didn't Know". The new single stays relatively tight to the typical D Jr. lane with maybe a bit more reliance on tighter song structures and syncopations. Dinosaur Jr. UK Tour Dates: (If you're not in Manchester or Leeds, sucks.) Jan 30 Glasgow - Arches SOLD OUT [...]
Welcome back for part two of the Universal Wax Top 12 of '12. Our twelve albums of the year and why you should check them out. Part One covered Sams four albums of the year which included Beth Orton and ... Continue reading
We've spent this week doing more figurative wrapping up of the year than we have literally wrapping golds, frankincenses and myrrhs, with both our Shows of 2012 and Records of 2012 features now alive and kicking, even if this year itself only has less than a couple weeks left in its legs. Here's hoping you've been able to vicariously experience evenings from the former category through us if you couldn't make them for whatever reason, though it's the latter that we're here centralising our attentions upon. As documentations of a determined time, records are the one [...]

And just like that, we've arrived at the second part of my Top 25 Albums of 2012 . As I've said, I easily could have listed 50 releases, but I realized that half of those would have been albums that I only listen to when I'm in a particular mood. In other words, they're not immediately accessible, and that to me knocks them down a notch. So, if you're looking for 25 releases that you can immediately dive into and love, this is the place to be. Enjoy. [...]
Known for their loud-quiet-loud distortion and as a supporting column during grunge's prime, Dinosaur Jr. attracted a varied mix of ages to The Fillmore last Wednesday night.

When one utters the word “reunion” in regards to rock music, it is generally met with a hefty amount of skepticism. And when a band decides to release an album after their hiatus, fans and critics cautiously await what may be a rip-off of old material, or, even worse, a lucrative scheme for more money. Luckily for Dinosaur Jr. fans such as I, we have bore witness to the holiest of reunions. With their album I Bet On Sky , the band’s third since their reunion, Dinosaur Jr. exemplifies the benefits of “gettin’ the band back together." [...]

Dinosaur Jr - I Bet On Sky By Kenny McMurtrie Album number three from the rejuvenated Dinosaur Jr . and thankfully they deliver what you’ll have come to expect in terms of upbeat, slacker rock and not something along the lines of J. Mascis’s disappointing solo album from last year. You get the impression the trio could churn this stuff out for years to come and you’d never mistake it for any other band’s work. Like aural comfort food, the ten tracks on [...]
Dinosaur Jr.’s tenth studio album is out now and the original trio is on tour. Catch them live in San Francisco...on us.
With the third full-length LP since their reunion in '05, underground rock icons Dinosaur Jr. is doing what they usually do with the quality fans have come to expect. It's a bit more mellow than 20092s Farm , which has its ups and downs, but still very enjoyable to say the least. WATCH THE REVIEW

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars I love how the songs of my youth are coming back to haunt my record collection. A slew of bands have returned to the fold, but for me, none has been more important than that of Dinosaur Jr , especially with their classic line-up at the helm. I Bet On Sky isn't a return to form, but it shows the continued growth of a band we've all adored for many a year. At first, I was taken [...]

A few of my favorite new releases this week, including new stuff from Dinosaur Jr. , Grizzly Bear , Menomena , The Sea and Cake , and more. As always, be sure to check out Largehearted Boy for the rest of this week's new releases. Allah-Las// Allah-Las [...]

Nothing makes your inner adolescent slam shut the proverbial bedroom door and jack up the hi-fi quite like a new LP from Amherst alt.rock constants Dinosaur Jr. and following on from J Mascis' lukewarm début paddle in the land of the lonesome , I Bet On Sky has been some time coming. Not exactly a long time per se – three and a bit years was none too long ago the customary time it took to piece together a record, Abel Tesfaye et al. – but this one's definitely got that internal tyke [...]

Dinosaur Jr. is going to round out the return to the roots of indie rock tour that has swept Nashville this summer. We've already heard from Sebadoh , Guided By Voices , and Archers of Loaf this summer, but it is Dinosaur Jr. that really seems to aging like a fine wine. Since reforming in 2005, the band has released Beyond and Farm , which is at least on par with peak era material. This week comes the release of their newest record I Bet On Sky which is due out on September 18th. NPR [...]
