In Case You Missed It - The Tripwire Week In Review Unfortunately, this week was dominated by the very sad news of Jay Bennett's passing . So while we spoke to Maria Taylor , Ladytron , Mastodon, Landmine Marathon and Torche , and premiered the video for These United States' "Honor Amongst Thieves" , this week our thoughts are on Jay and his family. No Title

Morning Becomes Eclectic 's interview with Sly Stone-which aired yesterday, and was apparently recorded a few days ahead so the show's producers would ensure that it made it to broadcast-is streaming from KCRW's site right now; his description of what happened when he first heard Sam Cooke is worth the bandwidth. ("Towards the end of the song, people starting running down the aisle and I didn't know what was going on," he said. "I didn't know what was going on. I didn't know they were just happy. So, I turned around and ran, and I've been running ever since.") [ [...]

In Case You Missed It - The Tripwire Week In Review

In Case You Missed It - The Tripwire Week In Review This seemed to be a week of a lot of big names getting involved in various acts of celebration and controversy. We spoke to Chris Cornell and celebrated the reunions of The Libertines and The Strokes , while sadly celebrating Joey Ramones Birthday . Radiohead entered the studio again , Jack White and Alison Mosshart were part of a rumored scrummage , Trash Talk e-mailed Us , Gonzales broke records at masturbatory speed , and of course we premiered new music . Sharon Van Etten also [...]

Weezer Provide The Missing Link Between MGMT And Lady Gaga

WEEZER!!! - KIDS (MGMT COVER & GAGA) - LIVE @ T-MOBILE PARTY 5.14.09
Also performing at the T-Mobile party that hosted the first concert in four years by blink-182 : Weezer, who had a tweaked lineup (with Josh Freese on drums; wonder if Rivers Cuomo got a copy of his solo album when the hire went through?) and a cover of MGMT's highly bloggable "Kids" that interpolated a bit of Lady Gaga for good measure / extra viral impact. The two songs mesh pretty well, although I do wish they'd thrown a bit of an old folk tune in there for good measure. [ YouTube ]

In Case You Missed It - The Tripwire Week In Review

In Case You Missed It - The Tripwire Week In Review So, how many times can we get updated on the Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse, David Lynch Collab album Dark Night Of The Soul on one week? Not once , not twice , but three times . Wilco was also on the non-humble tip this week, Brian Williams padded his indie cred with Deer Tick and we just might have found the next Wavves before he even hits puberty. All that, while we premiered a ton of great music , chilling with Trash [...]

In Case You Missed It - The Tripwire Week In Review Swine flu wasn't nearly as big a topic this week, but it still reared it's ugly head to make sure we didn't forget about it. Still, we were able to step outside to speak with M. Ward , Antlers and Local Natives as well as release some exclusive music . But probably the biggest highlight was getting to see David Byrne, Sharon Jones, Feist, Bon Iver, The National, Dirty Projectors, My Brightest Diamond and more at the Dark Was The Night event. In Case You Missed It - The Tripwire Week In Review It got increasingly more difficult to pay attention to our work this week. This after we spoke to Jon Hopkins , went to Coachella and celebrated Record Store Day . Here is The Tripwire week in review. Now, let's go have a beer and enjoy this sunshine. In Case You Missed It - The Tripwire Week In Review Crystal Castles [Photos by Gabriel Kuo] Wrapping up another week of posts while it's so sunny and nice outside is a laborious task, but it's well worth it when you look over everything we've covered in five short days. We spoke to TV On The Radio frontman Tunde Adebimpe , La Roux and the Eulogies and premiered tracks from the Radical Sons and Damian Lazarus all in the same week, but it was five days ruled by controversies involving Crystal Castles and the [...]

Here Are Those Videos Of The Tadgarden Show [In Case You Missed It]

Here Are Those Videos Of The Tadgarden Show [In Case You Missed It] These were posted in the comments of our original news item on the Ben Shepherd/Matt Cameron/Kim Thayil/Tad Doyle collaboration that went down in Seattle the other night, but in case you're having a problem keeping up with your fellow readers' bloviatings, I decided to pull them out and let them shine. "Hunted Down," the leadoff track from Soundgarden's Screaming Life EP, is above; "Nothing To Say" and "Spoonman" after the jump. The band still slays; Doyle's vocals are certainly different than original Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell's, but I think it all fits, in some sort of [...]
