First time I listened to this I got so hyped. See, I had some sort of a brain fart and thought that XV, Wiz Khalifa & Figure got together to make a legit dubstep // hip hop collab (overlooked the "remix"). Well, even though this is just a remix, it's a damn good one at that. Sill not topping my favorite Khalifa remix , but I'd love to see Khalifa & XV go in the dubstep direction. XV ft. Wiz Khalifa - Gobstopper (Figure Remix) [...]

![[Introducing] – Abadabad](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3981324_lg.jpg)
Tweet I didn't know how lovely looping could be until I listened to the Brooklyn-based band Abadabad . Their enveloping music was first brought to my attention in September 2011 during CMJ by Andrianna Albert, the beautiful blogger behind Gluttony Is The New Black , but since then it has become increasingly clear to me that this group is one to keep an eye on. With trippy beats, sparkling guitar parts and wandering, woozy vocals, Abadabad sounds kind of like a daydream brought to life. The [...]

The Adultery Brothers. If a band should be listened because of their name, these guys from Bloomington, Indiana (U.S.A.) choosed an excellent name for a rock n' roll band. That's right: rock n' roll, the finest rock selection you could ever listen at Insomnia Radio (or somewhere else). With influences of America's greatest roots rock sound, their self-tittled debut album will have you hoocked in no time. You can buy it at your favourite on-line store, or on the band's own store Download Between the Kicks [...]

Photo by G. US Flag before being occupied by China It's stories like this that make me say "when there's blood on the streets, we had it coming!" It's 2012. Things in the world are more messed up than ever. People are losing everything due to a really horrible economy. The tension across the world is causing Mother Nature to react with more natural disasters than ever and there's a feeling in the air that something really bad will happen before anything gets better. [...]
Filed under: News , Politics as Usual Ronald Martinez/Getty Images From Christina Aguilera to Roseanne , people have been screwing up 'The Star-Spangled Banner' for decades. That surely irks some Americans, but others really get really furious when performers alter words or add in those extraneous melodic flourishes. Besides creating YouTube fodder, all these reworkings have really ticked off one patriot in particular: Indiana state senator Vaneta Becker. How angry is she, [...]

Tweet vaso link I stumbled across this young band from New Albany, IN, while perusing the fine work over at We Listen for You and was instantly hooked to the organic Americana sound coming through my headphones. The quartet says that they're a folk-rock band "from the lowland plains and farmlands of Indiana and Kentucky," and that description comes through clearly on their first released single, "Penitentiary." From the opening guitar riff and organ chord, the melodies will envelop you [...]

I've always been a closet trip-hopper. Beth Gibbon's voice with Portishead never fails to touch that special spot, but all these years & only 3! I've always appreciated the similarity Siobhan de Maré & Gibbon's voices share...enjoying Siobhan's short stint with Mono. Shortly after her time with Mono, she was contacted by Robin Guthrie, former guitarist for the Cocteau Twins. After the Cocteau Twins were laid to rest, Elizabeth Fraser joined up with Massive Attack on Mezzanine , & Robin, along with fellow Cocteau band mate Simon Raymonde were busy running their Bella [...]

Tweet vaso link Part of why I like Bandcamp is the ability it gives artists to recommend other music they like when a customer downloads their release. Not that that can't happen on Facebook or Twitter or in concert, but there's something about the recommendations being right there, easy to click on, when you're already getting their music. I'm almost certain that I could kill an entire day following recommendations from one artist to another around Bandcamp. But for the [...]

![[Listen] – TV Ghost – "Doppleganger"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3892478_lg.jpg)
Tweet TV Ghost 's " Doppleganger " is the ideal mix of fuzz, garage, and punk without going over the top and still sounding incredible original. Rarely does a song catch me off guard as much as this one; In less than two and a half minutes " Doppleganger " showcases these guys out of Lafayette, Indiana's ability to combine angsty lyrics with a seventies psychedelia that is an emotional roller coaster between tense [...]

The Indiana State Fair stage collapse that happened just before a performance by Sugarland (and just after one by Sara Bareilles ) in August has turned into legal action against the country-pop duo. Forty-four survivors of the disaster and family members of four people who died have named the band in a lawsuit filed yesterday by attorneys representing at least 20 law firms from the states of Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. Sugarland were originally scheduled to stage a concert on Saturday, August 13 at the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis. However, after [...]

Bloomington, IN's Dreamers of the Ghetto recently released their excellent debut album Enemy/Lover via Temporary Residence. The most immediate point of reference on first listen would have to be Afghan Whigs, especially with such a powerhouse singer in Luke Jones and a sound nearly as vast as, well, space. The band currently have two live dates on the horizon. You can catch a live performance and hear a cut from Enemy/Lover below. Here's a live performance of album closer "Tether" filmed at Radio Radio in Indianapolis. [...]

![[Listen] – Fair Fjola – "Summer Song"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3867643_lg.jpg)
Tweet Very rarely does someone give me an album to check out that is anything more than a way to set me up for an awkward conversation where I have to gingerly find a way to say that our appreciation for music is not aligned. This was not the case when one of my best friends handed me the Fair Fjola " No One Gets Any " album. From the opening track I was in awe of not only how good this [...]
