Dig Your Grave is the title of a new 73 EP from The Pharmacy which is as good an example of indie-pop-garage bliss as you'll find. We included the title track in our January Best of the Month mix. Here is the equally good video for it - a super 8 mess of violence, fire and (what else) graveyards. a Buy it here . Or limited edition colour vinyl from Kind Turkey Records here . A new name to most, Capitals are a electronic duo from Edinburgh. I had a listen to their forthcoming single 'Jealousy/Sinking Ships' and was really impressed, especially with 'Sinking Ship. The single is available on March 12th. Capitals - Sinking Ships
North London's Daughter consists of lena Tonra, Igor Haefeli & Remi Aguilella. The group released two quality EPs in 2011, including The Wild Youth EP, which was released last October. "Youth" and "Home" (not to be confused with the two Foxes tracks we posted recently) are both excellent examples of the superb folk music created by the trio. Listen to both tracks below. It's that time again, friends, time to gather around the table and share our thoughts on certain special albums. The subject this time is Sharon Van Etten -the woman, the myth, the legend. Alright, there's nothing really mythical about her but she is a legendary woman, and her newest album, Tramp , is released and ready for listening and debate. We have all eight of our writers contributing their thoughts here. Dig in, explore our opinions, and share your own in the comments! Sharon Van Etten / Serpents [...]

Daydream Vacation - That Girl Don't Sleep Head Like A Kite f/ Asya of Smooosh - Noisy At The Circus Well, this makes me feel old! Smoosh were a Seattle-based indie duo composed of two sisters who were approximately 14 and 12 years-old when this video was filmed. The older of the two sisters, Asya , is now somewhere between 19-20 years-old. This is weirding me out for reasons I can't explain. It's like she's a distant cousin who used to be [...]

Don't know how I missed this one. Jack Peñate's 2nd album was one of my faves of 2009. His big pop dance tracks were hard not to notice. Then perhaps about a week ago, Jack dropped a new track, all recorded in one shot. Called No One Lied Jack actually put a vid out on [...]

For a Brooklyn band, Lucius sound incredibly twangy like a country band. On Valentine's Day, the group will release a self-titled EP. The band has released a video for the EP track "Go Home" that was directed by Tika Buchanan (Arkadia & Co). The new video uses stop-motion animation to bring to life Japanese ball-jointed dolls sculpted in the band's likeness. One of the dolls gets naked, so NSFW I guess? Watch the new video below. Haven't heard much from eccentric and always excellent Yeasayer lately, but like two years ago they consistently topped my charts. Needless to say, when I stumbled upon this new remix they did of London band Fanfarlo's latest single "Shiny Things" I was pretty damn excited! In true Yeasayer fashion, it is a bizarre and entertaining take on the track. Check it out! Fanfarlo - Shiny Things (Yeasayer Remix)

It's still early in 2012, but where are all the retro girl-groups that we saw from last year? Has that fad already passed? You might think so, but Chains of Love beg to differ. The Vancouver-based group is set to release their debut EP, Strange Grey Days , through Manimal Vinyl on March 13th. They've released one single from the EP, "He's Leaving With Me", that argues there's plenty of steam left in this revival genre. Download the single below and read what the band has to say about their debut. [...]
I'm usually not one to pay much heed to underexposed indie artists who only have one track on Soundcloud, but with Dana Buoy I'll make an exception. There's not a whole lot out there on this kid right now -- all we know is that he lives in New York, calls his music "Tropicore" and has 60 fans on Facebook. His debut single "Call To Be' was posted on Soundcloud a few hours ago, and his debut album Summer Bodes is set to release on April 12. He's going to be at SXSW, but besides that [...]

On February 7th, Kanine Records blessed the release of Royal Baths ' Better Luck Next Life . Royal Baths are a psychedelic rock formation of Jeremy Cox and Jigmae Baer . They began this band in San Francisco but their musical journey led them to Brooklyn. In New York, Royal Baths like to support all the DIY venues and Death By Audio was where they chose to have their record release party. That same night, Jeremy Cox sat on the curb with me to discuss the album, his [...]

Take Vampire Weekend's producer and keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij, put him together with Ra Ra Riot's lead singer Wesley Miles - and you have Discovery. Discovery's heavy electronic sound is very upbeat, poppy, and pleasant on the ears. This collaboration's only studio album has the self-explanatory title of "LP". Discovery - Orange Shirt Download audio file (01-Orange-Shirt.mp3) The album includes a re-worked Ra Ra Riot song, as well as a Michael Jackson Cover. Ezra Koenig even makes a guest appearance on the track "Carby". [...]
At this rate High Places will have a video for every song off their album, Original Colors , by the end of the year. Their latest in the seemingly never-ending video series is for "The Pull" that's frequently out of focus and features delightful shots of plant life. Watch the new video below. Read more »

"VIOLET BONES are a rock 'n' roll band from Cambridge — packing an incredible amount of passion, energy, animation and spirit into their sing-along garage-pop anthems. Their fierce DIY ethic and constant touring across the UK has earned them support slots with punk heroes New York Dolls and Ash". Great band on the verge of a debut album release, it`s nice to receive the odd promotional email concerning an artist that will be gigging somewhere near to home. Sure Los Angeles, New York or Sydney all have masses of iconic appeal but The Grinning Rat [...]
