So who's up for some heavy guitar rock? Is that a yes I hear? New band Polterghost offer up an excellent serving of just that. Whilst powerful basslines and gritty guitars assemble at the forefront it's the slightly distorted vocals and moments of calm inbetween that form the highly affectionate melodies that radiate from the layers of killer riffs. Bel Air is a side project of Michael Belsar, an independent artist based out of Australia. He chose a really difficult name to Google without seeing Will Smith's face. Luckily, the two songs that he has released so far are really good and also very different from each other. "Song A" is a subdued tune with forlorn lyrics and a mesmerizing, airy backdrop. I'm definitely digging the groove on this lead single from Sydney, Australia-based The Preatures ' upcoming EP. The band lay out a tumbling, old-school soul vibe while vocalist Isabella Manfredi unfurls a sweet and sultry croon that reminds me a little of Feist at her most upbeat. It's incredibly addicting.
