Once more Josh Legg has knocked it out of the park with his latest Goldroom reMix. I would say the constant quality is getting tedious if it wasn't for the fact that his reMixes rock. this time around it's Kitsuné's Citizens! turn for a ride on the Goldroom train as their 'Reptile' gets and almost Italo workout. Check out those bright, shimmering synths, like something straight out of an optimistic '80's Sci-Fi movie, a new feature to Goldroom's arsenal, but one that slips in effortlessly with the laidback funk we've come to love. Mixing [...]
Niki & The Dove 's new video for their single 'The Fox' is a pretty lovely to look at CG fest. Directed by WINTR the clip, well, just watch it, you'll see. I'm sure there is a story somewhere. 'The Fox' is out now on Sub Pop. Buy Niki & The Dove's music from: [...]

So far 2012 has started out as probably the most Vacayrific year to date. Since moving out to San Francisco I've met a lot of awesome people and tapped into an extremely interesting and growing music scene. There's something about the bay area that is very unique and refreshing and I have fallen in love. Let's hope the rest of 2012 continues on its current path to Vacay glory. I have no doubt it will. -Whiteface Nicky Romero is set to probably have one of the best years of his life. [...]
We're still in two minds about what we've heard of Ladyhawke 's forthcoming new album, some of what we've heard is amazing, some of it too rocky for our tastes. I guess we're just wishing for the good old days of 2008 New Wave Ladyhawke. Take the new single, 'Black, White & Blue' it sounds like catchy Ladyhawke, but all those standard rock guitars kinda' grate on our ears. Enter Punks Jump Up to save the day. Their reMix of 'Black, White & Blue' is exactly what I wanted to hear for the single. I [...]
Figure Of 8 continues his winning streak of reMixes with a new version of Lamb 's track of last year, 'Butterfly Effect'. The Belfast based producer does something completely different with the track and shows us how a reMix should be done. If you're not familiar with Lamb or the original track, Lamb are a left-field, post-Trip-Hop eclectic ElectroPop outfit who's downtempo beats and atmospheric soundscapes make for excellent chill out listening. 'Butterfly Effect' is an almost ethereal slice of Sci-Fi ambiance with icy, distant vocals. Figure Of 8 obviously thought 'you know what [...]
Chicago's Indie-Electro trio Gemini Club are making a welcome return with a new track taken from their forthcoming EP 'Here We Sit' which sees a the more groove laden side of Gemini Club making a comeback. Their last EP had a harder, more raw sound than the Disco influenced ElectroPop we'd been used to hearing from them, but 'By Surprise' is more reminiscant of Gemini Club's 'Ghost'. In fact, the track borrows heavily from their reMix of The Vanish's 'Hold On' (ah, The Vanish, there's a band we mourn the loss of). There's still an element [...]
It sounds like The Whip don't want to be New Order anymore. Their new single, 'Movement, is the best thing they have done for a while. A solid, upbeat, slice of Indie-Electro which is both dancefloor and sing-along friendly. The David Aspinall directed video is like a post-apocalyptic nightmare, but with kids on the beach. The Whip are about to embark on a UK tour with The 2 Bears and In Flagranti, here's the dates: 24th Feb - Newcastle @ 02 Academy [...]
I have no idea who Grouplove are. Apparently they're quite famous in Indie-Rock circles, circles I try to stay away from. They look a bit twee to me and are probably far to quaint for anyone's good, but, sweet Raptor Jesus, has Gigamesh dropped an absolute blinder of a reMix of their track 'Tongue Tied'. Gigamesh just knows exactly what he's doing. This reMix is actually pretty complex, both in programming and arrangement, but in Gigamesh's hands it feels effortless. I gave the original a quick listen and Gigamesh has been pretty respectful of [...]
Belgian eclectic Indie-Electro/Disco outfit Montevideo have a new single in the works. Following up their 'Tribal Dance', dropped through Relish Recordings, with this new track, 'Horses'. What you have here is like a soundclash between Moroder and Passion Pit that's being released on Smile Recordings later in February. Just one cut from their forthcoming album, which they are currently recording with none other than Joakim, 'Horses' was recorded at the DFA studios in New York. Lucky people! If you've ever seen the DFA studios you'll know it's like an Aladdin's cave of vintage, rare and quirky [...]
Brooklyn based purveyor of introspective retro Pop Aimes has just revealed his reMix of Teeel 's Triangle Waves'. He's given it an energy boost and delivered a really quality slice of vintage electronic Pop. The original version of 'Triangle Waves' was the lead track on Teeel's 'Amulet', a mid-tempo, almost SynthWavey, example of post-Chillwave ElectroPop, all analog synths and distant vocals. It was a good tune, but Aimes has made it even better. Drawing on both the current wave of Indie-ElectroPop, with it's catchy '80's electronic Soul reference points, and bits of Italo and [...]
Michigan based RxGibbs is the latest producer to join the awesome Cascine family, releasing his first EP for them toward the end of February. Ron Gibbs is keeping it chill but not forgetting tracks need a hook. Taking Chillwave to it's logical extreme is something that has been on the cards for a while now. It was only a matter of time before someone bled reverb soaked ElectroPop into true ambient and RxGibbs kinda' hit's that mark between the two. The six tracks on his forthcoming 'Futures' EP are supremely chilled electronica, atmospheric soundscapes [...]
Singer/songwriter Louisa Rose Allen's recently had a second wind, as Foxes , when Neon Gold, always with the finger on the pulse of eclectic Pop, snapped her up for the release of her new single 'Youth'. released earlier this month. Appropriately for Neon Gold, the single exists in the nexus between Ellie and Marina. Take Marina's quirkiness and Ellie's percussion led bombast and wrap them up with impassioned vocals and a sense of accessibility and it should see Foxes make quite a mark in 2012. You know Neon Gold has an eye for these things. The internet [...]
Here is the new video from Johnny Jewel's Desire project. It's for 'Don't Call', a reasonable old, from their 2009 album' 'II', tune given a new lease of life with some dreamy hipster visuals. Directed by Alberto Rossini in Miami in October during a hurricane watch, the wind and the vintage footage somehow seem to work themselves in to the track amazingly. 'II' is out now on Italians Do It Better. Buy Desire's music from: [...]
This week Brighton SynthPop outfit Mirrors released a brand new EP on their Bandcamp page. The 'This Year, Next Year, Sometime . . . ?' EP contains two new tracks, 'Dust' and 'Shooting Stars', and five new demos. it was put together by the band to help fund their return to the studio for a new full length album and it's well worth the price. 'Dust' is classic SynthPop, powerful and brooding and capturing that 'just right' SynthPop atmosphere of melancholy shot through with hit of hope. Along with 'Dust', if 'Shooting Stars' is [...]
Remember a few weeks ago we posted about the new single from Newcastle IndiePop act Mausi , 'Sol.'? Well, not the reMixes have hit, and they're pretty special. Ex-Yes Giantess main man Yan's, under his new Lightwaves moniker, turns in an unsurprisingly awesome ElectroPop mix aimed straight at the dancefloor. Loaded with perfect synth melodies playing against a House piano riff and some big room beats, this is the second dancefloor destroying mix Lightwaves has dropped in as many weeks, looks like it's going to be his year. UK producer [...]
Class Actress ' Elizabeth Harper has shot a video for her new track 'Bienvenue'. The Peter-Hook-alike bassed tune is accompanied with a stylish and slick clip shot in Paris in December. Buy Class Actress' music from: [...]
Do you get the feeling that Miike Snow are pulling a Baby Monster and streaming the whole new album in the weeks running up to it's release? Three tracks in two weeks? Anyway, this ones a bit different, 'Black Tin Box' features Lykke Li , who you know we love a bit of, and it's not a upbeat Indie-Electro track. What it is though, is a pretty powerful, brooding slice of dark ElectroPop with hints of The Knife. Although Lykke is painfully underused 'Black Tin Box' is a nice example of icy Scandinavian [...]
Fresh from their critically acclaimed 'Hidden Behind Trees' EP for Binary, Denver Synth outfit Flashlights are back with a new single, 'Fireworks'. Injecting a little more ElectroPop into their dreamtime synth sound with 'Fireworks', Flashlights combine an '80's Indie vocal with layers of crisp electronics for a sound more inclined to the upbeat and catchy, as we first heard with "'New Hampshire II'. It's a nice direction for Flashlights to be going in, with something about it that recalls mid-'80's British Indie as well as the melodic ElectroPop at it's core. It's catchy as hell too! [...]

Le Crayon & Oxford , two top quality Nu-Disco producers in their own right, join forces to take on the Indie-Electro powerhouse that is Metronomy . The results are funking good. This twosome lay down an easy groove which gives the , now instantly recognisable, tune a new spin. With sidechaned pumping French House and slick Disco licks set to a relaxed tempo Le Crayon & Oxford deliver a song to allow you to take a step back from all your stresses. You thought 'Heartbreaker' was played out? here's a new lease of life. [...]
Yesterday Goldroom , known to the rest of us as one of Binary's head-honchos Josh Legg, released his début EP. Leading the EP is new track 'Angels', a supremely laid back track with a tropical Disco feel. The percussion alone is something to make you sit up. Making some brave sonic moves within Disco, Josh makes each one of them pay off by creating a chilled beach-party groove with a live quality that's not so easy for an electronic musician to capture. Layer that with Josh's vocals, which he always layers thick to create really sweeping harmonies, [...]
