On April 24th, the Montreal-based electronic musician CFCF will release his new mini-LP Exercises through Paper Bag Records. Built around subdued piano and synth based pieces, the album pulls from influences like Philip Glass, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and David Borden. CFCF has released the first single from the new album -- "Exercise #3 (Building)" -- that starts off sounding strangely similar to the X Files theme. If you're a fan of shitty movies, then you know that Chrome Canyon's video for "Computers of Love" borrows footage from one of the worst of all time -- The Lawnmower Man . Originally labeled Stephen King's The Lawnmower Man , loosely based on a Stephen King short story, the movie was so awful and so far removed from the King story that he demanded his name be removed from it. Chrome Canyon has used the film's scenes of early virtual reality CGI (expensive stuff back in the day) to compile his new video. Watch [...]

Music created by brain pulses? What is this, some kind of science fiction? Well, sort of. On February 28th, Ghost front-man Masaki Batoh will release Brain Pulse Music via Drag City. The entire album was made from extracted brain waves in Batoh's home country of Japan. Much of the extracted brain waves are from victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred last year. Featured alongside entirely acoustic and traditional Japanese folk instruments, the BPM pieces serve as a collection of prayers and requiems for those affected by the quake. [...]
