Indigo Girls FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28th John Hiatt + Indigo Girls, The Little Willies at World Cafe Live (6 p.m., $95–$190) SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29th It has been four years since Feist won our hearts with her Apple-approved, quirky tunes on her breakthrough album, The Reminder. Though her recently released follow up, Metals, still features the Canadian singer's watery vocals and emphasis on guitar strumming, her latest album offers a more serious tone than the poppy cheer of songs like "1 2 3 4" and "I [...]

In 1989 was ik 18 jaar. Op vakantie in Limburg luisterde ik voor het eerst naar Studio Brussel en daar draaiden ze Closer To Fine van Indigo Girls.Het was liefde op het eerste gehoor, ik viel als een blok voor...

"What kind of face is that?"; Missus Nomad said to me yesterday over dinner. "Umm, my normal face?" I answered. Then in the middle of the night, she woke up and looked at me and screamed. Hey honey, get used to this mug, you've had 20 plus years to accept it and I ain't going nowhere. Wilco has a new album out and I am as ambivalent to them as always. I gave the lp a couple of spins on Spotify and immediately forgot every song. I do like that Jeff [...]
The Indigo Girls are back with their fourteenth album, and haven't lost a beat!
Driftwood Fire brings a purity and honesty to Americana that makes it a joy to listen to.
Indigo Girls are set to release their 14th studio album, Beauty Queen Sister (Vanguard), on October 4. Thematically, the 13-track LP takes a romanticized view of days gone by, but it also highlights modern-day anxieties. The duo teamed up with producer Peter Collins, as well as a number of guest musicians, many of whom are [...]

We keep our eyes peeled for new tour dates announcements each week and compile them on Tuesdays for this handy column… In 2007, Lisa Hannigan parted ways with Damien Rice, after recording two critically acclaimed albums, as frustrations arose within their working relationship. The split, which was far from amicable, seemed to have worked out well for Hannigan, as Rice hasn't put out much in the way of new material since 20062s 9 , while the folkie-chanteuse will release her sophomore album Passenger via ATO Records on [...]

Too much Tuesday: ► Canadian hardcore punks F*cked Up , their new album "David Comes to Life" (out in June) getting a lot of deserved accolades, visit the El Rey Theatre, with L.A.'s own Fidlar and Sacramento's Trash Talk opening. That's F*cked Up's video for "Queens of Hearts," above. ► WU LYF , the Manchester up-and-comers whose debut "Go Tell Fire to the Mountain" earned plaudits from Pitchfork and more, make their L.A. debut at the Echo, where Crystal Antlers, fresh off a banging residency, support. ► The final night of the [...]

I had hoped to spend Sunday bringing you news of YouTube ukelele sensation Sophie Madeleine's cover-a-day-for-a-month promotion , and of the new 34-song Herohill tribute to Gordon Lightfoot - a pair of recent projects which transcend the usual scope of tributary. Instead, I found myself drowning in the depths of scholarship, studying frantically for a state teaching license test in English next Saturday, the results of which could make or break my employment next year. Good thing other bloggers got to the aforementioned mega-compilations instead. [...]
Depois de não entender direito o conceito do projeto Undercover, do AV Club , o ...And tou Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead acabou decidindo no último momento que a música Blood And Fire das Indigo Girls , era a melhor da lista para eles fazerem a versão. Por mais diferente que possa parecer uma banda de post-hardcore gravando um cover de folk, o vocalista Conrad Keely afirmou que ele costumava usar essa música como uma forma de se aprender a cantar, e por isso decidiu fazer o [...]
...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead covers The Indigo Girls

There is a sort of duel-awesomeness to this track, ...And You Will Know Us By Our Trail Of Dead covering "Blood And Fire" from the Indigo Girls. To read it explained on AV Club Undercover , the band didn't quite get the concept of the series, where they are supposed to choose from a list of songs, and instead pitched a number of their own songs. The website finally conceded because the idea of them covering the Indigo Girls was just too good, leading to the second aspect of the awesomeness - just how heartfelt and over-the-top this cover [...]

We keep our eyes peeled for new tour dates announcements each week and compile them on Tuesdays for this handy column… For an artist that has seemingly played everywhere and has been apart of a number of historic concerts over the last 40+ years, the one thing that Bob Weir has never done is a proper solo acoustic tour. Well come this summer the former Grateful Dead and current Furthur singer-guitarist can cross that off his bucket list as he will head out for a five-date theater run that kicks off at [...]

It should never have worked: a mixed-race, chubby, braces-wearing Brixton gal, but Marian Joan Elliot-Said aka Poly Styrene of X-Ray Spex infamy did – after bursting onto the British Punk scene with her battle cry, 'Oh Bondage! Up Yours!' For a little black kid growing up in the heart of the Shire county of Gloucester, Styrene spoke to the stirrings of rebellion in her little country soul. For me, she was the exotic peacock in a sea of commonplace birds that represented the general populace at that time - there was no one like her in Gloucester back then! [...]
