You don’t need a weatherman to know that it was a chilly London night in March when Lady Kamikaze joined us for Heavy Sugar at The Alibi. In no time though, she had the whole club positively sizzling with this eclectic mix of vintage tunes. From swinging soulful shimmyers to spicy Latin shakers, Lady Kamikaze had us in the palm of her hand all the way through. The tracklisting below is not wholly complete, there’s a large slab of Cumbia in the middle which you won’t miss. It was a massive privilege [...]
Dutch producer deeB recently released his newest EP on Dusted Wax Kingdom. After his first EP called Daydream he made a selection of more organic/natural beats. Last year deeB played on the little stage Beatflakes hosted on Solar Festival . Simply because we knew this guy had some amazing tunes that are perfect to relax to in combination with some sunshine and a few beers. So when we heard about this new album we knew it couldn't disappoint us. And it didn't. It contains 9 beats so I'd rather approach this as being an [...]

Musikken [...]

Yo the post on the bloglin is hilarious. Dude is talking about the dark hole that is Friendzone's tumblr and how hard it is for the duo to get laid. With jams like this, who woulda thought?
Last year, Canadian recording artist, CBC radio technician and producer, and independent label operator Lee Rosevere released Time-Lapse: Volume 1 , ambient minimal electronic reworkings of classical works. Now, Rosevere has released Time Lapse: Volume 2 , a set of his own long-form ambient compositions. These new works are "intended for meditation or just relaxing to," according to the Happy Puppy Records label on which the work is released. By the end [...]

We have previously shared several times music from Swiss producer Worship ! There's always something magical behind his retro-futuristic 802s synth magical sound. If you remember a couple years ago, this specific genre was very much the "scene," just like Deep House presently. Worship already count with several remixes for people such as Moullinex or B-Xentric. His music has been equally played by the likes of Goldroom, Anoraak, Zimmer, just to name a few. Anyway, if you're fan of Worship, you already know that his glamorous synthesizer is the main character of his sound. For what we know "Close Encounter [...]

A new collection of tracks from producer Lee Bannon, the followup to the Caligula Theme Music project he dropped a few months ago. Like that group of tracks, Never/mind/the/darkness/of/it has a strong trap influence go it, but Bannon makes use of space and ethereal effects for a moodier tone. Enjoy!

The Remix Ryan Gosling brings some new new to your new music tuesday. I think Ice Cube must have called the Coors Light train to the Northeast, because I'm freezing, but this song should warm your music soul or whatever. It really is more summery sounding than his usual haze of distortion and bass, the glockenspiel probably helps that cause. His new EP Still Awake will be out next week and you can catch him on tour in Europe this summer. It worked this time. Perfectly - Ryan Hemsworth previously epic [...]

So we're well into the week and there's no better time to listen to some instrumental tracks than while hard at work - at least for me. I'm sure all of you beat heads would agree. Allow yourself to zone in and listen to some true innovative sounds in this brand new instrumental album from musician/producer Eb7#9 (E Flat Seven Sharp Nine). Sample-based music an art in its own right, and it's always interesting to hear how producers take an old piece of music and turn it into something totally new - think Madlib or [...]

With the reissue of Four Tet 's album, Rounds , comes a previously unreleased original version of his stellar track, "Unspoken" that samples Tori Amos ' "Winter". Keiren Hebden, known for his innovative instrumental tunes, delves into a humanistic world previously unheard from his stage name, Four Tet. Hebden explained that the track is 12 years old via Twitter , and the age can definitely be heard as the track ebbs and flows in a comfortably cacophonous symphony. Give it a listen and download below. Download: Four Tet ft. Tori Amos - Unspoken [...]

This Is Your Captain Speaking: ARC - All too often, it seems, we as music fans focus on finding the next new thing, that which is going to change or revolutionize a genre or sound. There are those moments, though, when the new and notable comes about not because they’ve done something novel, but because they took convention, and did it better. The melancholic instrumentals put forth by This Is Your Captain Speaking aren’t anything ground-breaking, but they are great. The Melbourne ensemble gained quick critical acclaim with their premier album, Storyboard [...]

mp3: Bill Doggett - Ram-Bunk-Shush Bill Doggett was pianist and organist who worked with Louis Jordan, Ella Fitzgerald, Wynonie Harris and Johnny Otis among others. He also spent some time in the band of Lucky Millinder, the guy who wrote and released Ram-Bunk-Shush first in 1952. Doggett's version came out in '57 and, thanks largely to Clifford Scott's honking lead sax, made both the pop and R&B charts, peaking at #10 on the R&B. Ram-Bunk-Shush was also released by surf group The Ventures in '61. Louis Jordan & The Tympany Five played [...]
