Interpol 's Paul Banks ' first solo album under his own name is the unimaginatively titled  Banks , which Merge will drop next week, but you can stream it now via YouTube. Interpol frontman Paul Banks is back with a sophomore solo album due out later this year. Banks, who released his debut album 'Julian Plenti Is... Skyscraper' in 2009, will release his new album, titled 'Banks', on October 23 via Matador. Interpol's Paul Banks seems to have figured out he wasn't getting all too much attention from his Julian Plenti moniker. Dropping the name from his latest project, the Interpol frontman isn't using any of the other alteregos he'd hinted at either, instead opting to go with the simply titled Banks . Following June's Julian Plenti Lives ... EP , Interpol frontman Paul Banks has announced plans for his second solo release in 2012. Banks drops the "Julian Plenti" moniker for this self-titled album, which hits stores on October 23rd via Matador Records. The 10-track effort was recorded in New York and Connecticut with producer Peter Katis (Interpol, The National, Jóni), and the end result is described as a "tour-de- force of exhilarating minor-key intensity." Paul Banks , the lead singer of Interpol, has generously shared ‘Summertime Is Coming', a track from his most recent solo release Julian Plenti Lives... EP , which was released yesterday. Listen to the track below: You can download the MP3 for free here . • Paul Banks - Summertime Is Coming

New EP to be followed by new LP.

Interpol frontman Paul Banks will return this fall with his second solo album, the follow up to 20092s Julian Plenti is... Skyscrappe r . Prior to that, he'll release a five-track EP,  Julian Plenti... Lives , which comprises an original number called "Summertime is Coming", an instrumental, and covers of J Dilla (!), Frank Sinatra, and Harold Faltermeyer (of "The Running Man" fame.) The EP, out June 12th via Matador Records, will be available digitally, and limited to 2300 vinyl and 1500 CD copies.
