In The Red Records made an announcement yesterday that they will be releasing the first new album of new material from Memphis, Tennessee's The Oblivians since the 1997 LP ...Play 9 Songs With Mr. Quintron . There's no additional info at this time as the dang thing hasn't even been recorded yet, but I can't express how overjoyed I am to use the words "new album" and "Oblivians" in the same sentence. Check out the classic track "Mary Lou" below!

Garage rockers Thee Cormans have a new single out this week on In The Red Records . The single features the two new tracks "Biker Bitch" and "Cumin and Goin", and has been pressed in an edition of 500 copies, with the first 200 on red vinyl. You can pick this up from In The Red for $5.50, do it sooner than later if you want red vinyl! Check out a quick teaser video for the single below!

The all-powerful Reigning Sound roared out of Memphis with the realest soulful rock 'n' roll since the Flamin Groovies, the Real Kids and Esquerita all ruled the earth together. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Greg Cartwright makes 'em scream, shriek, cry and weep and he visits California far too seldom, so don't miss these shows at Alex's Bar this weekend! (With the Strange Boys opening!? How will we ever go back to normal?) Win tickets here , and then read this interview by Chris Ziegler. By Jennifer Graciano San Francisco's favorite band is at it again; not with a single or a split effort, but with a full on full-length. This knocks their album quota up to two for 2011. With so many releases you have to wonder whether Thee Oh Sees might have lost a bet. Do they have a stockpile of tracks tucked away? Maybe they enjoy making music so much that they are, maybe literally, bursting with chords and lyrics. Whatever the reason may be, trust Thee Oh Sees [...]

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars If you already found yourself enjoying this year's Castlemania , you might want to preview the newest release from Thee Oh Sees , as it's not quite the same animal, but equally as important in the band's catalogue. Carrion Crawler/The Dream is really comprised of two EPs, and while their most recent work focused on short psych sprints, this one definitely has a distinguished jamming quality, akin to their live setting. "Carrion [...]
I always want Seattle to be louder. I know, I know, I live in San Francisco and aside from my contributions to this amazing site and my hand-me-downs from Abbey I don't know that much about Seattle music. But, really, I want Seattle's music scene to be more crushingly loud. And then the real extent [...]

New BOMB from San Francisco garage rock awesomeness Thee Oh Sees 2nd 2011 LP Carrion Crawler/The Dream out 15 November on In The Red records ... Listen | Thee Oh Sees - The Dream

Ever since I was introduced to tracks like " SK8 " years ago, I've considered Seattle's the Spits to kinda be the modern unsung heroes of punk rock. Of course this album, like previous ones, is self-titled, and will probably features a number of songs that are just as crude, messy, and distorted as the one above, "My Life Sucks." Look for this new Spits album via In the Red on Nov. 1st. Here's a picture of the cover to avoid confusion with all of the group's other self-titled releases:

Garage rocker Mark Sultan (aka BBQ of King Khan & BBQ) has not one, but two new records out on one of our favorite labels, In The Red Records . Titled "Whatever I Want" and "Whenever I Want", the two LPs include 26 new tracks and were recorded by Sultan in Montreal, and feature guest spots from Dan from The Gories, Jared & Cole from the Black Lips, Erin from the Spits, Choyce from Red Mass, and more. The first 200 copies of each album have been pressed on blue vinyl and you can [...]

After slowing down the RPMs for just a brief moment, Thee Oh Sees are to release their second record this year with Carrion Crawler / The Dream. The band are back on their distinctive sounding brand of garage rock; check out the track below as you stare into the insanity that is the album cover above. Carrion Crawler
I don't know if there is any band currently performing that continues to not only elicit the kind of excitement Thee Oh Sees elicit for me, but also with each and every album live up to that nugget of electricity rattling about in my stomach. Though Castlemania, with its crazy voices and impromptu flute solos, [...]

Seattle's The Spits will release their fifth self-titled full-length on October 25, 2011 via In The Red . Click below to see the cover art and track listing. Once out, the new album will follow up The Spits' fourth self-titled effort released in 2009.

I'm not going to go into my love affair with San Francisco (and its inhabitants, restaurants, bands). I'm not. But when the lights go down in the city, and the sun shines on the bay ... do I wanna be there in my city? Oh ooh whoa. Whoa ohhh oh ooh whoa. I'm slightly convinced that John Dwyer is insane (yet not as insane as I am for quoting Steve Perry). The leader of San Fran's Thee Oh Sees has taken every project he's been involved with to the far reaches and nether-regions of thee arty [...]

New music video for a dead garage rock fallen hero ... Jay Reatard " Born out of the wreckage of the REATARDS and the rubble of the short-lived CLEARS, Memphis's LOST SOUNDS began in March 1999 in an orange 70's kitchen with an oversized space-aged 50's refrigerator. They were a 3-piece made up of Rich Crook on drums, Jay Reatard on synth, guitar and vocals, and Alicja Trout also on synth, guitar and vocals. With a stockpile of analog keyboard at hand (previously collected for use in the new-wavy Sid barret-esque CLEARS) the three [...]

Download: Mark Sultan "Misery's Upon Us" You know Mark Sultan from his work with the King Khan & BBQ show, but he also has two new solo albums and a new 73, and is about to embark on a June tour that will take him to L.A.'s Blue Star Bar Friday. (Win tickets here!) He speaks now about In the Red Records, excrement, and so much more. This interview by Lainna Fader. You've said that 2010 was a continuation of bad shit [...]

By Jennifer Graciano With Castlemania, we get Thee Oh Sees' hundredth release. Let's face it: Thee Oh Sees release material like madmen. They've got their full-lengths, 7"s, EPs, and participating on a handful of compilations. Their latest effort has a lot of catchy moments, and some parts that will leave you wondering about the sanity of the San Francisco based four piece. Frontman, John Dwyer, has become omnipresent throughout garage rock music; founding, contributing, playing in bands all throughout Northern California with the ease of a musical [...]
