Macworld 2012 kicked off yesterday in San Francisco. I was curious to see how the trade show was progressing after revamping its image. Macworld used to take over the whole Moscone Center, present keynotes from the likes of Steve Jobs, and launch products such as the iPhone. It now uses the much smaller Moscone West building and doesn't attract the larger companies that used to exhibit at the trade show. Even with the smaller footprint, there is still a lot of activity in the Apple economy. With the mass adoption of IOS devices, app [...]
Every year we give ourselves resolutions for the new year - be more productive, get fit, see more live music, spend longer appreciating full albums, etc... Well today we're giving away an iPod Shuffle to help you make good on two of those promises - fill it up with a few albums and get running. Not bad eh? To enter, all you have to do is: 1) Be from the UK (sorry rest of the world) 2) Head on over to our Facebook page , like it and comment with your [...]
In a previous Art of Sound article , I stated that the single easiest thing you can do to improve the sound coming out of your iPod was to invest in a better pair of earphones. Now it's time to put my hypothesis to the test. I've got a line-up of earphones at different price points, an iPod and my favourite tunes. Let's see if some extra dough will actually make your ears happier. Here's the roundup: Apple earphones (I'm going to refer to these as iBuds): free with every iDevice [...]

Back On The Map LP by Antagonist Dragonspit There's really no gimmick here. It's just raw lyricism from the gut. It's not just putting together a bunch of words that rhyme. It's an effort to spread a message of progress to counterbalance the ignorance that dominates the airwaves. With that said, I beseech each and everyone of you to share this album on your social networks, rock it in ya ipods and media players, etc. Hopefully you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed creating it. PEACE! [...]

Lately I've been noticing some things about my musical lifestyle that have led me to wax nostalgically. Clearly, the music landscape has changed drastically since I first considered myself a huge music fan back in 1989, but even as things changed, certain things stuck with me about the way I listen to music. Now, those things seem to have gone; I acknowledge that we here at ATH contribute to this changing landscape, both for the masses and for ourselves, so I'm not being critical of anyone, just stating the things that I miss about listening to music and the life [...]

Lately, I've been dwelling on something -- in this blog, in the gym, on the street and pretty much anywhere I never venture without my iPod: great singers who either fell short of finding a sizable audience or ones whose heydays were far too brief. In my quest to give a few of them a little bit of their due, I posted a video by Shara Nelson -- whose stunning voice made Massive Attack's "Unfinished Sympathy" one of the most powerful musical statements of the '90s -- on my Facebook wall. [...]

Filed under: The Hit List Alamy It's been a full decade since Apple unleashed the iPod into the world, and we'll be the first to admit that we didn't realize the impact it would have (though we did know that Afroman wouldn't be staying at the top of the charts, like he was at the time). With that in mind, we put together a somewhat personal and lovingly sarcastic list of 10 ways that the little gadget has [...]
This song has a great vibe to it. It sounds like it could be the audio for the next generations of iPods. Camille is back to her solo performances and its sounds great, even though her work with Nouvelle Vague is just as good. Her new album Ilo Veyou is out now in France only, but should get an international release soon, perhaps with an English title. Chicago Tribune (MCT) -- Artists and fans discuss the impact of the iPod: HOW WE LISTEN: Alex White, singer-guitarist in White Mystery: "The iPod created a new format for the music-listening public, and a new way for bands to get in their fans' heads, literally, in the form of two white earbuds. My question is, what's the product cycle for portable music players? Was there a 10th anniversary celebrating the CD-playing Discman? Is it the iTunes marketplace that actually...

Seguramente no [...]
The Good: Everything The Bad: No turn by turn voice directions on GPS included. That pretty much sums up the amazing new phone from Apple. I finally at long last became an iPhone owner last week, after years of waiting for Verizon to get a contract to sell the iPhone and then another 18 months of waiting for my Droid to be eligible for an upgrade. But I took the plunge, finally, and after the first day my only thought was how [...]
