Irish electro-pop duo Young Wonder arrived on the scene late last year with their incredible single " To You ." If you haven't heard it yet, stop what you're doing and immerse yourself in those synthesized beats, crystalline synths and breathless Bjork-esque vocals. Fellow countryman and up-and-coming producer Daithi has begun to make a real name for himself recently as well with his new single and summer mixtape essential " Chameleon Life ." Based on my limited knowledge of mathematics, I know that if you take one really good thing and add it to another really good thing the end [...]
Irish black metal band Slidhr recently released their new album Deluge. Ryan Stephenson had the opportunity to ask the mastermind behind the band Joseph Deegan some questions.

Hello there.. We are Unwinding Cables, heard of us? Probably not! Well we are a Afro-Punk trio based in Cork City, Ireland. I bet you haven't heard of Afro-Punk before, no biggy...neither have we 'till we started playing in late 2011. According to Wikipedia "Afro-Punk refers to the participation of African Americans and other black people in the punk and alternative music cultures" ...Why can't they just call it Punk? No need to answer because we are just playing music and whatever label one put on us,we are cool with it so long the listener enjoys the music!! [...]

Refraction. Immense riffs. Immensely enjoyable. - By Geoff Topley
The flood is here, and it only leads down…- By Ryan Stephenson

Scandinavia and the UK are the usual hot beds for sweaty summer electronic anthems, but today Ireland seems ready to throw its hat in the ring. Galway's Daithi is a fiddle-playing, house music-making, loopstation-tweaking, button-pushing, hair-flicking bundle of energy. This track bursts out of the gates with Raye exuding some Estelle-like flair in the opening vocals. From there, Daithi does a fantastic job of capturing your attention and never letting go with an electro beat that just oozes fun, sun and good times. Get lost in "Chameleon Life" below. Two schoolboys, Jack Duff and Cormac Connell, from Navan, County Meath, Ireland impressed the judges on Wednesday night's episode of Britain's Got Talent with their cover of "Little Talks" by Of Monsters & Men.

I’ve always wondered why so many people turn up to a gig an hour or two after the venue opens its doors; if I took this approach, I’d have never heard some of my favorite bands. For example, the first time I heard Cork-based The Altered Hours was downstairs in the Roisín Dubh, where they were playing a support slot for O Emperor. I didn’t know any of the bands playing that night, but I left feeling quite satisfied with the night’s outcome. However, had I arrived an hour or two later, just before the headlining act took to the [...]

Photo by Paul Dorrell Photography Ireland’s Animal Beats have become a favouite. I came across their SoundCloud a few months back and ended up downloading all their songs. Then, one day my player was on random and this incredible track came on and I wasn’t aware of the artist- after listening to the song in its entirety, I checked who the artist was and saw “Animal Beats”, that’s when I knew this band were going to become a favourite! Between the positive energy, humour, and fun facts I discovered about the band, this interview immediately brought [...]
Irish electro/house icon Róisín Murphy returns to the dance floor with the track “Simulation”, a slow pumping jam, with a vintage disco glimmer, released in late 2012 via Munich-based imprint Permanent Vacation. Produced by Richard Barratt, the song develops an enormously captivating effect over 12 minutes with a constantly swelling beat and vocal performance. The official release includes a remix by fellow Irish man and rising star of house music Mano Le Tough , as well as a shorter dub version provided by Eric Kupper. Follow Róisín Murphy on [...]
Irish black metal outfit Altar of Plagues' latest album sees the band challenging their atomspheric black metal roots with loops, synthetic drums, keyboards, noise, and some unique grooves. WATCH THE REVIEW

House music for those who know. Words by Jamie Hallaman. Ooh, PRINCESS , nice. Drones, moans and dulcet tones from Dublin. This sombre bass-led incantation has the feel of a death march (if not a death crawl) and it's got the sounds to match; a dreary plod of a rhythm section is accompanied by a solitary voice singing his woes (really quite beautifully), only to be periodically interrupted by a gasp of desperate feedback and distortion...big big Berlin walls of sonic frustration. This is somewhere between the first Sonic Youth EP (the one where they still had that awesome guy from [...]

Ireland’s best export since Two Door, duo Young Wonder are creating a unique path to superstardom that the world is starting to take notice. Through subtle sample and pulsating synths provided by Ian Wring and that powering angelic voice of Rachel Koeman, this music being delivered is addicting to the fullest extent. As their debut EP Show Your Teeth drops today through Feel Good Lost Records, several listens below to new track “Electrified” show off just how massive and controlled their sound can be. Heading down a more pop-oriented path than ever [...]
