As I just posted a few days ago, Suckers ' exemplary debut album "Wild Smile" made my Best Of 2010 list, shaking in at number 14. If you haven't yet heard the album, head over there (that linky link above) and immerse yourself in its wonder; a modern-day, Indie-Rock, Kate Bush monster. As much as I'd like to believe, or even entertain the thought that they released this new video to coincide with their placing on my lists, it's simply not true. One day though, it will be. The video's kinda weird but [...]

If you're a follower of mine on Last.fm you may have seen me constantly playing this album over the last week or so. Even though they've been around for a while, and their album has been out since June, I kept hearing people talking about them and just didn't check them out. Then I finally got their album a couple of weeks ago and haven't been able to stop listening since. It's a well-written and hugely emotive album, focusing on excellent musicianship as well as creating an atmosphere that's at times haunting and hopeful, and at others bursting [...]

"Good God, it's (comparisons to Modest Mouse/Talking Heads) getting on my nerves again." Suckers open up this mouth-watering EP with a song that immediately calls to mind bits and pieces of the aforementioned bands: "Beach Queen." Influence from Wolf Parade even sneaks in, too. Those are the reference points one can immediately point out, but I don't mean to cheapen this band. "Beach Queen" starts like a Donna Summer song: Dreamy synths cooing before it breaks into the most confident jubilee about heartbreak. The bass is funky as hell--if hell has a disco ball--and the lyrics are sharp [...]

Suckers ' debut EP, produced by Yeasayer's Anand Wilder with Chris Moore, is out now on IAMSOUND . These guys definitely fall in the vein of Yeasayer, Amazing Baby, Chairlift, etc. There's also a major Talking Heads vibe going on here. New video and mp3 below. Since the start of 2009, NYC's Suckers have been making their internet rounds, getting blogged by just about everyone and their mother. It's been over a month since their self-titled EP debuted, and the buzz is yet to die off--and it shouldn't. Sucker's mixes the insanity of David Byrne with Bowie's attention to production detail. It's exactly what we need in these troubled times. The EP is out now on IAMSOUND , and here's a live video/mp3 to warm your ears up: MP3: [...]

From Suckers, a group I've never heard of before, comes a delicious free download, "It Gets Your Body Movin'" off their recently released Suckers EP (April 14). You can purchase it here on Amie Street for a grand total of $1.66. This one gets me all excited and stuff - in a I wanna get up and dance kinda way. I didn't even think about the song title while writing that and look what happened anyway! Music is craaazy! Grab this tune, you'll be happy with the end orchestral crescendo full of horns (I [...]
