The words 'Deluxe' and 'Edition' can either bring annoyance or pure joy into core music fans, so with a swift flick of a 'has-its-own-mind' repeat button and a hindsighted, present Caribou-outlook, the Yeah Yeah Yeah's blitz's back four acoustic numbers softly for all those nursing a hangover or taking care of a bigger one courtesy of William's n' Kate's royal-knees-up. So they released the deluxe version of It's Blitz! and with it this delicate four minute moment performed by Karen O , Nick Zinner , and Brian Chase on what sounds like a jangly tambourine (not sure who's on the violin). I always liked this song, really enjoyed hearing it performed live with my baby but this acoustic rendition makes it step off the pages like it never did before. Download this sweet piece here . Fall sweetly, hang heavy - you suddenly complete me, [...]

"Fall asleep Spin the sky Skeleton me Love, don't cry" New single by the crown jewels of the New York music landscape, the Yeah Yeahs Yeahs. This is the promotional film for Skeletons . One of my personal favourites from last year's It's Blitz record where the trio truly came into their own. So subtle yet arresting. Tender and convincing. It's a song that truly exhibits the depth the band possesses. Think of it as a sort of companion piece to Maps off of Fever [...]

Half-ghost, half-20's era actress, Karen O floats above a foggy graveyard with bandmates Nick Zinner and Brian Chase not far behind, with lights and eyes (yes, eyes) in the sky. Check it out here: And the making of here:
Los Yeah Yeah Yeahs están lanzando un nuevo video , se trata del sencillo "Skeletons" que forma parte de su disco mas reciente It's Blitz! , en el video podemos ver a Karen O sofisticada como casi siempre, tan solo rodeada de luces entre la oscuridad.

', will be released as a package containing the song, a special acoustic version of the track and a video. The bundle will be released on February 1. Yeah Yeah Yeahs

"Skeletons" is the third music video from last year's it's Blitz! lp.
We really live in a day and age when the idea of being a rock star is just about gone. Gone are the days of the lead singer who gets mobbed by fans everywhere they go or sleeps in hotel rooms full of strange women. We don't even get a lot of musicians with drug and alcohol problems anymore or who quite obviously don't give a shit what anyone thinks. You know, those people who were just way cooler than you ever hoped to be? Dylan, Jagger, Plant, etc. We all know the names. That's what makes them rock stars. [...]
Yeah Yeah Yeahs flirtation with synth-pop was one of the talking points of 2009. Seemingly everyone (with the possible exception of the Pope) praised the bands metamorphosis from angry art-rockers to dance floor conquerors. It is hard to disagree with this assessment as 'It's Blitz' is superb. The decision to sacrifice Nick Zinner's guitars in favour of a [...]

No.2 Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz If the years preceding 2009 saw guitars infiltrating the pop consciousness once again, then 2009 itself must surely be remembered as the year in which PVC-clad women armed with grubby synthesisers wrestled the power back ( Litte Boots , La Roux , Yeah Yeah Yeahs , Lady Gaga ,). However, as with every trend there were the thoroughbreds and the great pretenders. After two near million-selling albums - 2003's Fever to Tell and 2006's Show Your Bones – [...]
Clearing out the closet, I've concluded that while everything else was in shambles, musically, 2009 was indeed a great year. While the year brought to earshot many, many names of new bands like Florence and the Machine, La Roux and Animal Collective, unfortunately in my microcosm, their offerings were not enough to crack me and [...]

Our finest 20 records of the year are the ones that are closest to our collective hearts from a San Francisco band's debut to a Kosmische pile-up between Tangerine Dream, Sunno))) and proggy ambient techno to the return of some French Anglophiles, to our highest charting Irish albums, a band on their 13th release, an icy Swedish enigma and a slew of Brooklyn based bands. Albums of 2009: 75-51 | 50-41 | 40-31 | 30-21 | 20-1 [...]

I had a hell of a lot of trouble getting this list together. Relistening to albums, figuring out which ones to cull from my list. I rediscovered some great great discs though. And my top 10 will be just below...for you! But first off, I feel as though there are a few albums I should give a small shout out to. Although these discs didn't make my top 10 list, they did make my shortlist (a list that ended up being not very short at all)...and man it was difficult trying to cull that down. So, [...]

Where are the wild things? Headed to the Grammys!

Seeing any band for the third time in the space of six months is a little over-kill, but it provides an interesting test of their live credentials and blows open wide the internal workings of that live show. Tonight was the third time I had stumbled across the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in the second half of the year. I was right at the barricades at Glastonbury; a little more disinterested, a few feet back waiting for Radiohead at Reading and tonight I was perhaps a little closer to the rear, reluctant to enjoy the growingly over-familiar intricacies of the 2009 [...]
