2012 had more than a handful of impressive debut full-lengths, including Alabama Shakes' Boys & Girls , Porcelain Raft's Strange Weekend , and Jack White's Blunderbuss . The tracks below don't even begin to scratch the surface of debuts this year, but these are a few of my favorites. The buzz band of 2011 did not disappoint. If you have yet to give this record a chance, you're only hurting yourself. It's more than just "Southern rock". It's rock and soul [...]

Jack White has never been straightforward. While his previous projects like The White Stripes and The Raconteurs managed accessibility and abstraction, White’s first solo release, Blunderbuss , fully embraces the strange. To be blunt, White’s first solo offering may be his strangest release to date; however, his abstraction doesn’t prove fully problematic. With an inherent schizophrenia woven through each track, White presents a departure from the musical landscape listeners are familiar with. In lieu of familiarity, White puts forth some of the most bizarre and ambiguous songs to date. [...]
Earlier this week Jack White released his awesome new debut solo album, Blunderbuss . Last night he performed four tracks on Later With Jools Holland ... - three tracks from Blunderbuss ( Sixteen Saltines, Freedom At 21 and Hip (Eponymous) Poor Boy ) and Ball And Biscuit from The White Stripes [...]
Jools Holland 's show kicked off tonight with a bumper line-up of artists who've released some of the best albums of the year so far. Jack White played a couple of tracks from his excellent debut solo album "Blunderbuss" , Alabama Shakes played from their equally-as fantastic debut LP "Boys & Girls" , and Canadian experimental indie-electronic artist Grimes played from her stunning album "Visions" . [...]
When the news broke that The White Stripes had officially broken up back in February of 2011, my feelings were somewhat mixed: of course, The White Stripes were and still are one of my favourite bands, one of the few bands active in my lifetime whose discography seems to warrant obsessing over and scouring through in the same fashion as those of many more established legends, and, of course, you always look forward to a new album from your favourite band. The discovery that no such new album would ever come was [...]
After the breakup of the White Stripes, Jack White perseveres forward with Blunderbuss charting his new creative course with an even more appealing sonic direction.

Jack White will release Blunderbuss next Tuesday. He's been out doing some promotion around the globe and making announcements about headlining different summer festivals. He stopped by De Harald Schmidt Show in Germany yesterday and performed two tracks off his upcoming debut, solo album. Glad it wasn't just the two we've been hearing. He skips "Love Interruption" this time and performs "Sixteen Saltines", along with a new track "Freedom at 213. So pumped for Blunderbuss .
Listen to Jack White 's debut solo album "Blunderbuss" below. Over the weekend we posted one of Jack White 's newest songs "Freedom At 213 , a track that he'd released into the world via helium balloon as a 73 single, that then touched down somewhere for someone to rip it and throw it up online. He's now got the entirety of "Blunderbuss" streaming via iTunes , but you can also listen to it below. [...]
Jack White releases his latest video which is packed with trippy imagery and is just an overall interesting/insane video. I realize this came out a few days ago so some of you hard core Jack White fans may have seen this already, but for those of you that haven't check out the new video for "Sixteen Saltines" above...
Jack White recently announced that he has a new solo LP on the way, which will be his first full-length release with any project since the announcement of the White Stripes' breakup. Titled Blunderbuss , the album is looking at an April 24 release via White's own Third Man Records. "Sixteen Saltines," the second taste we've been given of the album, has been paired up with a somewhat unsettling new video. The clip splices together shots of children and teenagers acting out various forms of surreal and often kid-unfriendly behavior, which ranges from [...]

So we typically toss a video onto a post when highlighting a new band or a show preview or something and let you draw your own conclusion about it. Sometimes we throw a change-up... strike that - let’s call it a round up. Most of these videos are of bands we have previously talked about here on Draw Us Lines, so we won’t be telling you much about those bands themselves, just some musings that really aren’t worth a damn. If a picture is worth 1000 words, then a video must be worth a million. Hold on to your hats! [...]
Ol' Jackie White has released a new music video for " Sixteen Saltines ," directed by AJ Rojas for his second single off his debut solo alum, Blunderbuss (coming out on April 24, 2012). The vid is a little bizarre, with Jack White finding himself in a precarious situation at the hands of a group of Lost Boys painted blue . The rest of the scenes involve kids in various states of causing mischief and self-harm (some of it a [...]
Aanrader! Jack White - Sixteen Saltines Agressieve jongelingen! Vliegende kinders! Boterhammen aan het plafond! Gasmaskers en appels in doodskisten! Of hoe je kroost op te voeden.
I wouldn't consider myself a huge follower of Jack White but I do enjoy his music, mainly his work with The Raconteours. After the break up of The White Stripes, Jack has been doing his own thing. This is a result of what seems to be the start of a solo career. Well check out [...] Like this? Jack White's "Blunderpass" is coming out in two weeks, but now we can watch the second video out of his solo depute "Sixteen Saltines". A totally violent, destructive and strange video directed by AG Rojas with Jack White being terrorized by a bunch of children and teenagers.
From the former White Stripes frontman's new solo album Blunderbuss , in stores April 24th. Watch: Jack White – Sixteen Saltines (Video) |

Jack White has always been a character so it was no surprise to see that his video for his latest single Sixteen Saltines is just as outlandish as he is. White is held hostage by a clan of bad kids then later tied up and torched in the back seat of a gas drudged car... and that's the least of it. There's kids eating thumbs, floating, guzzling cough syrup and spitting blue goo into each others mouths all at random points in the video (if none of the mentioned don't make you watch I don't know what [...]

Jack White "Sixteen Saltines" This video really takes me back to my firework powered skateboarding, face tatting, random flying and just general mayheming childhood. I'm glad Jack White was able to capture the essence of those simpler times in my life so well. I can only hope for more fun-loving music videos like "Sixteen Saltines" for songs off his upcoming solo album Blunderbuss , due out April 24th. Kids rule, adults drule!!! -Alex [...]
