Photo Credit: Outside Lands For a festival that tries to be all things for all people, Outside Lands comes pretty close to hitting the mark. Sure, the food is overpriced and for the most part sub-par (although Wine Lands was a very good time), and I’m not entirely sure who found the time to check out the comedy shows, but when it comes to music (which was the point after all), this was definitely a line-up that delivered. Number of Attendees: [...]
The stars came out for San Francisco's premier Summer festival // Follow Owl and Bear on Facebook and Twitter for contests, MP3s, and links that don't make it onto the blog.
San Francisco's annual Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival is always tasked with the enormous duty of being the "other" huge festival of California, and the designation is both a blessing and a curse. On the low end, it has to try and come up with acts that Coachella somehow didn't have the foresight to [...]

It's been three plus days since Outside Lands came to an end and i've needed every minute of it to fully recover. This was my first legitimate music festival and it was a lot to take in. With that said, I would do it all over again this weekend if I could. I had so much fun last weekend, not even the total lack of sleep, the nightly struggles of finding my way home, the $9 beers, or the bird that shat in my eye Friday night will keep me [...]

Despite dreary, chilly weather from heavy fog and steady winds during the three-day 5th Annual Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco this past weekend, the city's biggest summer music event sold out thanks to a lineup packed with legends of rock and pop, break-out artists of the past few years, and many other bands in [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

Here are a selection of festivals from the final day of Outside Lands 2012. Fans at Outside Lands 2012: Jack White at Outside Lands 2012: Stevie Wonder at Outside Lands 2012: Skrillex at Outside Lands 2012:

Sunday at the main stage was about as diverse in genres as a single stage could be. I spent most of my time their, and got to hear happy pop songs from fun. , raw Southern rock from Jack White and the ever-so-wonderful singalong hits of Stevie Wonder , just to name a few highlights. fun. , despite having been on tour for over a year, put on an energy filled show with the same spirit and joy that they had when their tour just started. The set list was essentially identical [...]
In all my years as a festie, I've never been to a festival where gloves seemed like a perfectly sound idea. But San Francisco defies the logic of California (as comedian Marcus Monroe put it, "It's summer, so tell your fucking city that"), with cool days and downright cold evenings. Still, the City by the Bay plays one hell of a host. Coming from Boston, the honest politeness of the people here was shockingly apparent from the moment I stepped onto the BART. With sunny skies above, it was a warm welcome to the weekend ahead. Of course, [...]

Perfect way to end a musical weekend in the woods. Jack White and Tom Morello even did a little impromptu in Choco Lands. Photos below of Allen Stone, Jovanotti, Tom Morello: The Nightwatchman, Birdy, Franz Ferdinand, Caveman, Electric Guest, Regina Spektor, Jack White, Santigold, Bloc Party, and Mr. Stevie Wonder. Stevie's a legend and any opportunity to see one of the greatest singers/songwriters/people ever should be savored. Bloc Party brought their OK live show to an absolutely packed Twin Peaks stage. The Brits, although not world beaters on their instruments, created enough onstage energy to have the house locked in and engaged. Uncle Jack did his best Johnny Depp impersonation for 70 minutes accompanied by a fiddler, double bassist, and a bathtub stomper (We made the bathtub part up). White's closer "Seven Nation Army" turned a [...]
Stereogum Over the weekend, thousands of fans flocked to this year's Outside Lands at Golden Gate Park. Overcast and chilly weather was offset by the fire from the Metallica pyrotechnics and warm vibes from festival attendees. Neil Young & Crazy Horse turned up their guitars to close out Friday, Metallica blew everyone away with their hellfire on Saturday, and Stevie Wonder dazzled with his barrage of hits to on Sunday. Some of the other highlights included Jack White's impromptu set in the midst of the trees, [...]

Now in its fifth year, San Francisco's Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival took over Golden Gate Park this past weekend, with a diverse lineup that included everyone from long-established legends like Neil Young and Stevie Wonder to more emerging acts like Tanlines and Zola Jesus. Flavorpill sent photographer Scott Dudelson into the crowded park — which was packed with some 200,000 music fans — to cover the three-day festival for us; click through to see our favorite shots that he captured. Every year, every festival in America claims to have the "best line up ever!" Well, San Francisco's Outside Lands Music Festival has made to its 5th year, and they really are going to have a seriously difficult time topping this year's event. Of course, this means that there are conflicts galore! You've got six stages [...]

Good Morning, Juarez Family! This post comes to you from our clean (sarcasm) and pristine (more sarcasm) weekend abode at the EconoLodge in Newark, DE. Yesterday, was mine and Jon's, as well as anyone's first experience with Firefly Music Festival . The inaugural year of the East coast's premier music event has a lot to offer including a free hammock lounging area, not-free hot-air balloon rides and myriad of unique pop-up restaurants. Most of all, it offers fantastic, live music, which is the real reason we are here. The first day, kicked off with Blind Pilot [...]
The moments we all (and some) have been waiting for have arrived: Outside Lands announced the daily lineups and single-day tickets go on sale Friday!
